Beautiful! I love those trees. We had planted one at our old house, and I so wanted to bring it with us, but it had gotten too big. We have a nice little one here, and I'm thinking of planting another as soon as my week from h*ll is over.
I love that they look like fall year round! I took these last night. Ours is a dwarf - but there are some huge ones in our neighborhood. This one sits to the right of the path leading to the woods...and I was thinking of getting a match for the other side...but the prices for another...ummm...I think it'll be a loner for a while!
Heather-- no trees? A lot of the new neighborhoods here are lacking them as well. Or they leave the scraggliest looking pine. Apparently some people prefer the treeless areas - especially those that have been through tornados.
We have a large lot...with both a yard and trees. It's a great combo.
Lorna-- A salad? I think I'll stick to romaine :-)

Meliss - Thanks - Japanese Maples just lend themselves to beauty. We just moved in a year ago...and the people before us didn't plant much that blooms. So being envious of everyone else's spring pictures...I just had to make do with what I have...which is a gorgeous Japanese Maple...and then I need to work on planting for next year :-)
Rhea--do Japanese maples grow where you are? What I love about Texas...that you don't find around here is Live Oak. They are so pretty...but I don't think our climate works for them or I'd want one in my yard, too. That and blue bonnets.

I do need to get the "awesome" award from your site. I actually got it yesterday...but I am not sure where on the computer I stuck it! :-)

Debbie-- I have the "big" camera - I have a digital slr - Canon Rebel - that I mostly set on automatic because I don't know how to use it! I need a class! And I bought a macro lense - and that is what I was playing with. Most fish eye lenses are $1500ish...well...this was a $25 attachement that I bought at Amazon...it's not the same...but it made for some very cool pictures.
