  1. Rice or potatoes? Both, but mainly rice. Pilaf is the best.

Right or left handed? Right, but I play pool with my left.

Are you and your spouse the same birth order? And what would that be? Yes, we are the third kid and the third of the same gender.

Do you have a good set of china? Yes.

How long have you been married?
    26 years.

What kind of shampoo do you use?
    Herbal Essence for colored hair.

Gadget that you use the most in your kitchen.
    Kitchen Aid Mixer.

    Book you are currently reading.
The one I am writing. No title yet.

Favorite TV show as a child.
Here Come the Brides and The Brady Bunch.

Does the toilet paper go over or under? Over because I am the only one who it appears knows how to replace it in my house.

  2. Potatoes. All kinds. Chips. Mashed. Cheesy. Garlicy. Twice baked. Yum. But I do like Chinese fried rice.

    Right handed

We are both the same - both are oldest. My parents were the same birth order as well - my dad second of three; my mom second of four.

I do not. I had one - Autumn by Lenox. But I sold it on ebay when I needed money to start a business. Got more than it was worth :-)

We celebrated our 12th anniversary in March.

I use Herbal essence. Either for colored hair or for curly hair. Or a little of each.

The things I use the most in the kitchen is my Pampered Chef stoneware. It's the only thing I bake with in the oven. But, I suppose it's not really a gadget. I really like my Pampered Chef mini spatula. Can you tell I love Pampered Chef?!

I'm reading two. "Sin in the Second City" about two sisters who owned a brothel at the turn of the century - and their dealings with politicans, ministers, and playboys. Non-fiction - and really interesting. Other one is "Holy Cow" about a woman who moves to India to be with her boyfriend who is a reporter for an Australian network. It's her love/hate relationship with the country.

Brady Bunch and Little House on the Prarie.

It goes over. But my family seems to think it goes under when they bother to change the roll...

  3. Definitely both!

    Right handed.

Different. Hubby is the baby by a wide margin (siblings are 10 and 12 years older), I'm my mom's only child and my dad's oldest child by 16 years.

Yes. I used to have 2 sets, but gave 1 to my mom. The other one my dad gave me (and both sets were second hand).

    We've been married 13 years!

I can't think of the name of it off the top of my head, but it's all organic with no parabens and the like.

Probably my cheese grader. We use shredded cheese on everything, and I hate the pre-shredded kind (we don't like the stuff they coat it with to keep it from sticking. Blech)

Which one?? "Living the Good Life" about an Aussie family who strives to spend no money for 6 months, "Hungry Planet" which chronicles the weekly eating habits of families all over the world, and "Book of the Lion" which is a novel about the Crusades that we're reading together as a family. There's actually about 4 others that I having going at the moment as well.

Hmm, you don't give an age range, but I'm going to guess 10 and under. Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Twighlight Zone, The Fugitive, and The Addams Family.

Either way is fine with me, but hubby prefers it over, so that's the way I put it on.

  4. Hello! I'm from Idaho! Potatoes. But I do like rice too.

    right-handed.

I'm the third born, he was the seventh---both have 10 year age gaps between us and the next sibling though.

Yes--and sadly it has never left its box.

Since my divorce still isn't final--I guess the clock's still running--13 1/2 years.

Alternate between Redken "all soft" and Bath and Body Works Lavander and Vanilla. Both smell amazing and keep my overly-colored hair super soft.

My kitchen aid mixer. And in the winter, my hot chocolate maker.

    Fablehaven 2 (with my kids)

Punky Brewster---does any one else remember it?

Always over. And I will change yours around if I use your bathroom and it isn't that way. You're welcome.

  5. Rice or potatoes? Potatoes (Mashed!)

    Right or left handed? Right

Are you and your spouse the same birth order? And what would that be? Yes. We are both firstborns.

Do you have a good set of china? Nope. Never wanted it--too accident prone! It's all Corelle and heavy-duty diner-type dishes around here.

How long have you been married? 16 1/2 years and still going strong!

What kind of shampoo do you use? Pert Plus

Gadget that you use the most in your kitchen. Potato masher

    Book you are currently reading.
The Forsyte Saga and Your Inner Fish: A Journey into the 3.5-Billion-Year History of the Human Body

Favorite TV show as a child.
Brady Bunch, Facts of Life, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, HR Puf N Stuf
BTW, does anyone else remember Kimba the White Lion? Talk about a stressful show--too many animals in peril for me. Same goes for Lassie!

Does the toilet paper go over or under?
Over! Under is wrong on sooo many levels. Drives me batty!

  6. Firefly Mom,

Have you read Material World: A Global Family Portrait yet? My son and I read it several years ago. It was one of the most important and memorable books we've ever read. Also, have you read any of the simple living books by Helen and Scott Nearing? Also very good reads.

The book you're reading about the Aussie family living the simple life sounds interesting. Will have to add that to my library queue.

PS: Son and I really enjoyed Hungry Planet.

    Have a great weekend!

    Evelyn

  9. Rice & potatoes!

    Right handed

    Hubby & I are both first-borns.

Yes, it's Lenox Eternal and only been used once. So sad.

We'll celebrate 12 years in November!

I've just discoverd Dove Cucumber & Green Tea. It smells glorious and doesn't make my hair frizz on end. Yay!

I'm a big pampered chef devotee also. The stoneware is used daily. I also love their garlic press.

I'm not currently reading anything. I have about 15 on the bedside table that I want to start!

Dukes or Hazzard or Little House on the Prairie.

T.P. goes over. It drives me crazy to see it under.

  10. Romi--You play pool? I have watched. I have attempted. It doesn't agree with me. What kind of a book are you writing?

FM--You and your husband are both practically onlies :-) That book sounds really interesting. Who is the author? I looked at the library for it - and found on with the same title about sixty years of self-sufficient living - which sounds interesting, too - but I don't think it's the same.

Jennifer--I do the same thing - if I am somewhere where the tp is not over, I am compelled to change it as well. And Fablehaven? I need to look that one up - sounds like a good one for Katie. And me.

    I remember Punky...but I didn't watch it.

Evelyn--Welcome! I think you would be right at home here in my kitchen in heaven. You could use that potato masher :-) And I knew there was a good reason I put the book question in. The inner fish book sounds fascinating.

JDMom--Sorry you are doing this twice :-) I was having a power struggle with blogger at the time. 3 books - impressive! I usually have two going...mostly because I am lazy. Meaning one is by my bed and I am elsewhere so I pick up another. Do you like Blood orange?

Bridget--I love that you use your nice china everyday. I sold mine...but still have my nice silverware. And we use it every day.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Angie--I always love to see what china pattern people pick. I'm nosy like that. And I am sure that you can tell I love Pampered Chef. Even having a party at the end of the month. Now I just have to convince my friends to come.

  19. Rice or potatoes? I find rice easier to cook but I like eating both rice and potatoes equally, I think. If that's what you're asking...

Right or left handed? Right handed, married to a lefty, mom to a righty and a lefty.

Are you and your spouse the same birth order? And what would that be? Kind of. We're both first borns. Except my dad had four other kids with his first wife, so technically I'm his fifth child...but I'm my mom's first born. hehe

Do you have a good set of china? Yes, but have NEVER used it. It was in storage for YEARS.

How long have you been married? 12 years next month!

What kind of shampoo do you use? Pantene. It just makes my hair smell great. I try better shampoos like Aveda or such but Pantene just works for me.

Gadget that you use the most in your kitchen. Hmmm...my blender to make smoothies. I love my bread machine and crock pot. are those gadgets? Maybe you're talking about an apple slicer or something...in that case, I don't know...

Book you are currently reading. I don't have one going currently! I need to read the e-book you sent me (can you believe I haven't read it yet?) and I want to start that tWilight series.

Favorite TV show as a child. I didn't watch TV growing up. Weird, I know.

Does the toilet paper go over or under? OVER, deefinitely.

  20. Okay, my turn.

Like potatoes - especially easy to bake; just wash them, put them in a covered glass dish (or some other crock) and back at 350 for 1 hour (more is okay)

    Right-handed

Same birth order - both oldest of 4

Yes, I have a set of good china. I didn't "lose it in the fire," if you catch my drift.

    Married 6 years

Pantene shampoo, but I prefer Redkin

The gadget I use most - the dishwasher!

I have about 4 books going, I think. Two by Eckhart Tolle, one is Law of Attraction and YOU on a Diet by Dr. Oz. Oh, and something by the Dali Lama. Yes, eclectic.

I loved the Brady Bunch - Marsha, Marsha, Marsha

Toilet tissue must only go over!!

  21. I look forward to Friday Follies every week!

Rice OR Potatoes? Can't I just have both?

Lefty! But not one of those bitter, jaded lefties who's tired of the world's cruel-hearted prejudice against lefties. Oh no, not me.

Nope - I'm the first, he's the last. Which works out nice because he wants to be babied, and I want to boss everyone around.

No good china. I break and/or lose anything expensive I own. So I opted for some really fun, colorful dinnerware.

Been married almost 6 years. Still lovin' it!

I bounce around - pantene, herbal essence, fructis - I change it up often enough that no crappy grocery-store brand in particular can trash my hair out for too long. I've been looking for a good salon-quality recommendation, if you have any!

Hand mixer. I bake cookies at least twice a week.

Three Weeks With My Brother, Cat's Cradle, 1968, The Tipping Point, A New Earth, and A Thousand Splendid Suns

Growing Pains. I still miss it.

Over, of course! You can't see it if it's under.
