Wordless Wednesday: Trouble

It's Wednesday. The day of insanity. The day I have massively overscheduled. I had my water aerobics class this morning. Katie had piano lessons. We are skipping tennis, scouts, and church.

Because for some reason, I wanted to make my day a little more harried. So, I scheduled a doctor's appointment for today. For BOTH girls. And this was not a simple appointment. I had to finagle a double booking. For a doctor that had his first availability in December. And that was back in August when I made the appointment.

At 2, I left my house to pick Madalyn up from school. And as I was waiting for them to find her, they asked me if that red van was mine.

See the red van. Notice anything unusual? Other than the fact that it's filthy? Well, I suppose that is de rigeur for Mom cars.

How about if we go in a little closer?Yeah, that's a pretty one.

So, how about you? How is your Wednesday going? Do you have days with too many things scheduled? Could you have fixed your own flat tire?

**Edited to add: I sent an email to my mom to read this. And her response was not how are you. Or I'm sorry you couldn't get that appointment. Or that sucks. No, it was "does this mean you are cooking dinner tonight?"

Theme song: Trouble by both Ray Lamontagne and Cold Play. Because I have enough trouble for two songs. And yes, "Popular" is still on the playlist. You can scroll down and make it play all day long...

  1. You just described my life. And I have other people to keep up with. Sometimes I just wanna take off running and not stop. Where? Who knows, just running.
And yes, I can and have fixed a flat. Blowout while driving. On the side of the road, 6am and dark. I decided I could change it while I waited for someone to come help. So why call!

  2. Oh no! I've only had 1 flat tire in my life. But it was a doozy. It was around 11pm at night and Angela & I were road tripping to West Palm Beach, FL. We had a blow out an hour outside of Chattanooga and I couldn't get the jack out of the trunk. (Long story) We had to wait more than an hour for her boyfriend to come and rescue us at a roach motel. And then drove to Athens, GA on a doughnut. (Another long story)

  3. Ok, a donut tire, not a real doughnut. But I'm sure you didn't need that clarification. Geez, I'm hungry all of a sudden.

So, what's for dinner tonight? LOL!

  4. Your mom's response was hilarious. I'm sorry about the flat tire. I could NOT have changed my own tire, but theoretically I know how. When I got my first car, my dad made me change the tire in our driveway, so I would "know how." Yep, never used that skill since.

  5. I hate days like that. I try not to schedule things all in one day. But somedays it just ends up that way. Thursday (next week) is the book fair at school, plus meet the teacher night, plus Brownies. I cannot skip Brownies as I am the one who handles their activities. Cannot skip the book fair as I volunteered to help before I realized it was Brownie night. And I have to visit the teachers so the girls can show me where they sit, even though I spend ALL DAY FRIDAY up there and know where they sit.

So the day will be fine, but between 5 and 8 I will be a harried mess I am sure.

  6. Sorry you have had a bad day!!! I hope it gets better for you!

  9. Wednesday is the only day we have crazy... I leave work at 5 and we're supposed to be at church at 6, and it's a 25 minute drive home...and a 20 minute drive to church. OH, did I mention that we need to have supper in there?

Yes, i could change my tire... but I'm really starting to wonder about Atlanta because Mr. B constantly has issues with vehicle tires....

  10. Well, my Wed. is going better than yours!

Boot Camp kills me MWF, but I must do what I must do.

  11. So you are not having a good day? I see no reason why?
Kidding, just kidding. I am sorry for your aweful day. Hope tomorrow is better.

  12. See what happens when I come back to blogaritaville? I come and visit your site REGULARLY! LOL And... I scrolled down first thing and selected POP-U-LAR and every time I hear it, I miss NYC. Can your next contest include gift certificates for a plane ride, lodging, etc. for a trip there? And, since we both love the book, we could go and see the play again and talk about all they left out :).

Now, about the van... That SUCKS! And, I would totally NOT know how to change it. I ran over a huge boulder on the freeway (I really tried to miss it!) and it blew out my tire. My spare is now my tire and my flat is still totally ruined. It totaled the rim. And, what did I do? Immediately called 911 and the operator was like: "Let me get this straight: You are OK? And, you are calling 911?"

OK... this is getting way too long. My point... I would be screwed if I walked outside, was in a hurry, and saw that my tire was flat. I am feeling your pain sis.

Hope you are having a good day!

  13. I meant Good Rest of Your Day--post flat tire LOL.

  14. No, I could not change a flat. I've never had one while I'm alone. Knock wood!
Did you get it towed home? Why didn't the tow truck guy change it for you?

  15. Wednesday is the one day that I have all to myself and I usually spend it running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.

And yes, I can change a flat tire .. or tyre as we say downunder

Just popped home to let the dogs out and now I'm off again..

    ReplyDelete
  16. Technically I "could" change a flat tire, I know how and actually did it one time, on the side of the road, back in my college days....But that is so one of those tasks that I believe in paying someone else to do it... just saying. Hope you day tomorrow is excellent! Sorry you had a bad day...

  17. Eeks. I hate flat tires and have had my share. I, like Rhea, was taught how to change a flat back when I began driving but since then, someone else has always been kind enough or felt obligated to change it for me. My Wednesday has actually not been that bad this week. We had tennis lessons this morning and ran a few errands this afternoon. The Quik Trip in McDonough has gas so we were lucky enough to fuel up and Rhea left THREE, count 'em folks, THREE comments on my little 'ole blog today! How 'bout that?

  18. Oh, and I LOVE your song choices - AGAIN! So do you write the blog entry AFTER thinking about the song or is the song an afterthought? I just can't believe that the song could possibly be an afterthought though since they are always such great choices! POP-U-LAR...... I know that I'm POP-U-LAR! dadada dadadadadadadada......

  19. Oh, and I made the grits casserole (recipe via Kat via PW) over the weekend and it was a HUGE hit in my house as well. Gotta love those grits! Never had grits until I was 30 but I love me some grits now!

  20. And Shannon, Karen, Hot Tub Lizzy AND Rhea - I am on patrol, I am on a mission. Don't count me out. I may have a mouth full of dust at the moment but I am on a Top Commenter Mission. Consider yourself warned. :)

  21. Thanks for commiserating with me on my day. It wasn't a horrid day. Just didn't go as planned. A big part of me thinks it is a small blessing that we got a chance to slow down today :-)

I hate car stuff! Michael came home and changed my tire. And he said to me that I could have changed it. I told him I would have rather walked home. And I don't walk.

I discovered the flat at Madalyn's school - which is right at the entrance to our neighborhood. So, I drove home on the flat. Going only 10 miles per hour or so. Which is what my lovely husband said to do. So, no tow truck.

And thanks Tiffany for the accolades on the song choices. I write the post first. And then sit here trying to decide whether to publish or not without a song. I contemplate for a while. Sometimes. Other times it comes to me immediately. Like today. And yesterday.

  22. Bummer..........
    glad the day is over!!

It has been decided by my husband that your blog wins the "Best Music" award. He loves them all except Popular! What is his problem?

Thinking I need to get in on the comment competition?!?

  23. Wednesday Is the only day that I don't have to much scheduled. Yea, I can change a tire :)Sorry your day was crummy

    ReplyDelete
  24. Today has actually been a normal busy day. Nothing too crazy...Just the usual stuff...but that tire would send me over the edge. Why does that stuff always happen when you really really need your car, like now. And do I change my own tire...No. I call my husband crying then call AAA.

And your Mom's response is hilarious. I'm don't mean to laugh at your expense, but that really made me laugh.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Don't you love those days? Sorry you are having one.

    LOL about your mom. Seriously!

    ReplyDelete
  26. My Wednesday was pretty hairy. It started off with me breaking our shower. So, none of us could bathe. Then, my mother (whom I am primary caregiver) hit her donut hole in her Mediacare coverage and her prescriptions tripled in cost!

This is the same mother who said nothing about me in my wedding dress and when asked, she went on to talk about her in her wedding dress. So, my mother is pretty much your basic nightmare.

And, I couldn't have changed the tire.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, you know the day I've had. But you win...yours sucked worse.

    Love this song...both versions.

And your mom cracks me up...I need to be her friend!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Sorry about the flat... I would not have been able to change it, either. That falls into the "this is why I have a husband" category. Along with yardwork, bug-squashing and toilet-plunging.

    ReplyDelete
  29. My Wednesday was ok... I did get my minivan back (YAY!)... and this evening went to Bible study.

And that totally sounds like something my mom would say to me!

    ReplyDelete
  30. What the...?!?? How did I fall to 4th place? 4th?!!?!?!?

    ReplyDelete
  31. lol at your mom. Sorry about the flat. We all have days like those. Hope tomorrow is better!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Uck, I hate flat tires! Sounds like you had a Murphy's Law kind of day ;D

And yes, I find that I overschedule. Funny enough, this is a much bigger problem since homeschooling than when Cody was in PS. There are SO MANY cool activities that it's easy to want to do all of it, or most of it - which translates into way too much. I have to work really, really hard to say "no" to most things.

    ReplyDelete
  33. No I could not change a flat. Well maybe if I really wanted to, but that's why I got married.

~I cannot keep up with the comments...the top 5 really adore you!

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL about your mom's response! Hope you get it fixed soon!

  35. When it rains - it pours! For a woman anything with the word flat before it is not good unless we are talking about stomachs...then it's good! I am still waiting for mine to flatten out.

Royalty does not change their own tires...remember that, Princess Kat:-)

  36. I didn't get home til after 10pm last night. TWO football games in a small town way north of our small town.

BUT, the good news...our team won both games! Back to back! Our team, which has never made a first down, much less scored, beat the pants off those teams!

The exhileration in our boys' eyes was worth the long drive and hours of sitting on those hard bleachers.
I'm so happy, because they needed that confidence boost.

I don't have a post planned yet!! HELP!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm with you sister!! We are ALWAYS busy! Yesterday, I went out to drive my kids to school ...and my van wouldn't start!! Thank God for AAA! They came and replaced my battery for me. Of course these things only happen when my hubby is away!

BTW...no nobody's ever said No don't add me. It would crack me up though if they did!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well ... there you go !! For at least a few minutes, I'm the top Commenter :-)

Now I can go take a shower, throw the Chilli in the Crockpot and go to school...

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh ... and I guess I should think about posting !! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I hate flat tires... I have had a few in my time and no I have never changed them.
As for the dirty car...you are so right, when does a mom have time to do that also? I don't....

    ReplyDelete
  41. What a drag. I get flat tires on a regular basis, and it's so frustrating. Ugh! Hope you got it fixed in a jiff.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Oh yeah... sounds like last Saturday when I was frantically trying to pick up my son from soccer, take my daughter to volleyball and get to a bday party.

What do you know? The garage door is broken and my car is inside. $400 later the door is fixed and I can get out.

    Good times... good times.

  43. So sorry for your Wednesday. As long as the lug nuts aren't too tight, I can change my own flat.

  44. Damnit Karen! She took my spot. MY spot.

  46. Laughing at your mom, but not your woes. Sorry, SITSta. I am so digging the music vibe going on here.

  47. I have to be honest and say, "Nope" I can't fix a flat. But... if in need, there's a cell phone and there are instructions. one way or the other....

My Wednesday ~ could be better. Overly all a grumpy mood, but that's what you get for the middle of the week. Hope yours gets better!

  48. Look who's back on top baby! I'm like a bad penny that keeps turning up. A zit that won't pop. An oozing scratch that you can't stop itching...

    Ok, grossing myself out now.
