Weekend Winners: Can you resist?

Once again, the names were written down. The papers cut. Extras added to the mix. I even found a pink hat. Shook the hat a little. Had to chase down a cat that managed to grab some of the entries. Then I had to dump out the contents and make sure that everyone was accounted for. Re-wrote some entries. Locked myself in a closet. And pulled out the first name.

Congratulations to Caroline from Pocket Change who won a car magnet!

And then I pulled out a second name. For another car magnet will soon be on it's way to Marcia Brady. Marcia. Marcia. Marcia. You know she was at the gay book store the day before Gregory Maguire signed my Wicked book.

And our grand prize - the magnet, and all the cooking for the cure goodies - goes to: Jen from Coconut belly!

Congrats ladies! Please email me (address is on my profile page) your mailing address and your goodies will be on their way.

Okay...let's start over with another prize pack! Do you know what happens this week? Are you counting down to the release? How about I tempt you with some Twilight love?

This week's winner will receive:

The Twilight Movie companion.

But this is no ordinary companion. This one is personalized. With a note from the ultimate fan girl.

And while you are looking through your new book. You might get a little hungry. How about a little chocolate temptation. And not ordinary chocolate. But Godiva chocolate.

And then when you are done with your book. You might want to read through the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. With a special cover of Edward himself.

And after you have seen the movie. You might want a permanent reminder. Until the dvd is released. So you could always hang this 2009 wall calendar in your kitchen. To keep track of your appointments. And kid activities.

AND if you haven't read the book. You can go and get yourself a copy at Barnes and Noble. But I am sure that you have already read it. Which is why I am giving the movie companion and not the actual book. Though I looked at the book. And the new ones have posters in them. You can buy your own with this.Or you can use this gift card to find something else to read before Stephenie Meyer is persuaded to release Midnight Sun.

And you can mark your place in your new book with this. Or you can always take it with you to the tattoo parlor to make sure that they get the inscription just right.

And finally...you can pretend that you are a teen again by hanging this in your room. I am sure that your husband will get used to it.

I believe that sumarizes the ultimate fan girl pack. Tempting, no?

This is what you need to do:

1. Post a comment here. Tell me if you have read the book. And what do you think has been the best movie adaptation of a book? What about the worst? And really. Tell me what you think. Because I don't believe "I want to win" is a movie adaptation of a book.

2. For another entry...follow me. Only three more to make it to 100! If you already follow me, you also get an extra entry.

3. Blog about this week's contest.

4. And this week we are going to make my life easier. Because I am giving away stuff. I need easy! When you comment you get an entry. When you follow, come back and leave another comment saying you follow me. When you post about it...come back and leave a comment saying you did it. Then I can truly use random number generator and I won't have to type in all those names!

5. Contest ends Friday at midnight. Winners (Yep. Winners. There will be some mini fan girl packs, too!!) will be announced next Saturday. Along with the week four prizes!

post signature

Theme song: Coldplay - In My Place. Because it's not on the soundtrack. But I think it would have been a good addition. And come Friday. I will be in my place in line. And just maybe. This prize pack will find it's way to YOUR place.

  1. ooops, sorry I forgot to follow the RULES, I was to busy fantisizing about winning Lula's autograph

I have read the books and I will be going to the movie next week.

Best book to movie adaption........hmmmm, maybe Charlottes Web. Oh no, Of Mice and Men was really well done.
Of late my least favorite adaption has been The Kite Runner. I thought they left out to much important stuff......

okay, there, I played by the rules.

and I LOVE that word. You know the word FONTISIZE. I tried to be a fontisizer once, but it just didn't suit me right!

  2. I probably should add that the only reason I have read the book (and it's sequels) is because Ms. Lula herself had one delivered to my doorstep within 24 hours of convincing me it was worth any amount of my time. So doesn't it just seem right that I would win the goodies here?

  3. yippee!
i'm so excited to see my husband using a pink spatula!
    i'm off to email you!

  4. So I kept seeing this nonsense being posted up about these Twilight books on the blogs of women I knew were in their 30s & 40s... and also knew they were books for teenagers... and thought, seriously? Fortunately, I have a Kindle, and downloaded a sample from Twilight. I got about 5 pages in (there are usually 1-2 chapters in the free sample downloads), and gave up, and pretty much didn't do anything for about 4 days straight while I plowed thru all 4 books. Then I read the released version of Twilight from Edward's point of view from Stephenie Meyer's website. Then a couple of weeks later, I re-read all 4 books again. And have been hopelessly devoted to all sorts of news about the movie. And I'm disappointed I most likely won't be in line opening weekend, as I'm being a good friend, and waiting til there's a group of girlfriends all available to go watch together, 2 weeks after opening weekend. So yeah, you could say I'm a fan...

But on to your next question... Not sure what the best movie adaptation of a book is...does Baz Luhrman's Romeo & Juliet count? It was word for word Shakespeare, so at least the dialogue was dead on. As for the worst...that's always a toss-up...but maybe the TV mini-series for North & South? The story sort of followed the books, but some of the key elements were changed. As a follow-up to the week #1 contest, I think Wicked the Musical was a very interesting deviation at the end from the book. But I totally didn't mind that the ending was completely different...it's a musical, it's supposed to end on a happy note, not a downer...

  5. Congrats to the previous winners! ROCK ON LADIES!

What an awesome Twilight fun package! I admit I am one of the losers that hasn't jumped COMPLETELY on the train.....yet. I confess to purchasing the book this evening so I can hurry and read it before the movie comes out...but I would certainly LOVE to be added to the drawing!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I haven't read the book yet. But my sister has and she loved it! Makes me want to run out and buy it, but maybe I'll win it instead!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I definitely need to win these....please pick me. I'm just a poor, lonely housewife who needs chocolate with a side of Edward.

  12. OK now for your questions
Best book to movie adaptation...That's a tough one but I have to with Stephan Kings The Green Mile. It followed so closely to the book that when I read the book after the movie I saw the movie in my head! Too cool.

Worst book to movie.....Jurassic Park. I mean don't get me wrong the movie is cool and all but there was so much left out of the book I was disappointed!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I have, indeed, read all the books--in record time (for me, at least) and often with children and housework being ignored--not proud of that!---just saying...

as for movie adaptations, I agree with Michelle that Romeo and Juliet was amazing in that it kept to the original script perfectly, but I also was going to say that I thought Jurassic Park was well done--so much for my judging abilities! I will have to go reread the book and watch the movie again--I just remember being scared stiff by both!
As for worst, Gone With the Wind may be an amazing movie (one of my favorites, actually) but it sure doesn't cover the book well--I was so upset when I read the book, having seen the movie first and learned that Scarlett had a son! completely changed it for me. Of course, not many people want to sit through a 7 hour movie.
thanks for such a fun blog and great prize pack! I am now going to become a follower...

    ReplyDelete
  14. yay! I am follower number 101!

    see you around!

  17. College girl nor I have read any of the Twilight books. So you can get us started on this new craze. Would you like to know that you started an addiction? What power. Hey are you a twilight pusher? LOL

    ReplyDelete
  18. Of course I follow you.
Have to have your music to dance too1

    ReplyDelete
  19. Of course I've read the book. I couldn't not read it, it's amazing. I think the best movie adaption of a book would be the Harry Potter series. I never feel jipped from the movies. I think the worst movie adaption may have been The Golden Compass. I felt so ruined by it. There were certain moments that were beautiful in the movie but it doesn't tell the whole darned story, or tell it right!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh oh oh!!! I just read the first and second books last week and LOVED LOVED LOVED (!!!) them!! I can't wait to see the movie!!!

The best adaptation of a book... has to be.... Gone with the Wind. An oldie, but a goodie.:)

    ReplyDelete
  21. And here is your blog on my blog about your newest habit of getting people addicted to twilight.

  23. I'm not gonna lie, I want this. Badly. Because I probably won't get to see the movie in the theater (thanks Economy & Bills). Alright, need to focus & do the other stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am also your follower (second only to Jesus, of course ;) )

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sorry...I messed up. I have read all 4 books. Twilight was my favorite though.

I think "The Nanny Diaries" is the best adaptation to a book. They are really close.
The worst? Um...probably "The Notebook" BUT only because they didn't allow an ending where they could make "The Wedding" like in the book series.

    ReplyDelete
  26. http://thesclub.blogspot.com/2008/11/twilight-fanscheck-it-out.html

And I'll add this to my contest corner.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Have not read the book but I'm going to see the movie with Angie and Shannon and then I promise, I will get a copy and read it! I did visit Stephenie's website and get info so I won't be totally ignorant. And after reading blog after blog about it, I KNOW Bella and Edward!! I'm working on all the entries so later!

    ReplyDelete
  28. OK You are now posted and BTW, I fixed your Grits Casserole for dinner the other night and it was a hit, Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Awesome! Of COURSE I have read the book! I am soooo ready for the movie!!

The best movie adaption? The Notebook. it's a little different, but still fabulous. The worst? DaVinci Code.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The girls in my youth group wanted me to take them to see this movie - I just read the book to see what all the hype was..... OMG!! I'm so addicted now & sucked into Edward Cullens' grasps!!! I bought the Entertainment Weekly magazine just to stare at that Perfect - crooked smile face......

Best movie adaptation=Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants
    Worst=The Da Vinci Code

  36. I am a follower of you and LOVE it!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ok, so I think Stephen King's The Shining, the second made for TV movie, was great. It followed the book and was way better than the Hollywood version of the first movie. No one can scare you better than Stephen. It's hard to get that in a movie. The worst was Stephen King's Pet Cemetery.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Don't know if I am doing this right, but for my extra entry here is another comment:

I am already a follower. (That should count for two)

    ReplyDelete

  40. I haven't read the book so I can't tell you anything about it but I sure would like to read the book. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm following you now so that gets me another entry right? I've got my fingers crossed...

    ReplyDelete
  42. So excited about the prize!! I read the book and although I haven't seen the movie yet - from what I can see in snipets from the movie, the chemistry itself between Edward and Bella seems to be the best adaptation. I'm unsure of the fight scene because the book didn't have alot of detail of the actual fight.

I am posting on my blog, Mommatudes, about the contest ASAP!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh - and I'm now following you! Love the blog!

    ReplyDelete
  44. that is so funny that you had lula sign the book... that is awesome...I hope I win... and I will try to figure out this followers thing... I know you want the numbers really bad :) I will try

    ReplyDelete
  45. okay I am now following... and you are the only one on that list... and I pray that I win something for it :) so I guess I get two chances now, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oops - misundertood the adaptation part.. I think Lord of the Rings and The Chronicles of Narnia were good adaptations. Of course, with any adaptation, the director/writers/producers take liberties with the storyline and content.. but I liked these the most.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Hi There! I would love this prize pack. And because I am such and ultra generous person, I would even share the prizes with my friends, who are also Twlight fans. Isn't that kind of me? Except the chocolate, I don't share chocolate.

Let's see, the best movies based on books I've seen have been the Harry Potter movies. They stay so true to the story. The worst movie adaptations I've seen have been Queen of the Dammed (Anne Rice), they totally cast that one wrong. And definitely The Other Boelyn Girl. They totally butchered the story on that one.

    Can't wait to win!!! :D

    ReplyDelete
  48. Hey look! I can follow directions. I'm following you... :) Where are we going anyway?

    ReplyDelete
  49. I blogged about the contest. I even figured out how to do the create a link thing. hehe

    ReplyDelete
  50. Yes, I have read THE book. All 4, to be exact. And Midnight Sun (oh please, oh please, oh please let her finish it!)

I don't know about the best/worst movie adaptations. I think all of the Harry Potter movies have been done well and pretty much follow the books.

    ReplyDelete
  51. And I am already following you... I can't believe you're over 100 now! WOW!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have read all the books! They are great and I would love to win all this great stuff!

I think the best adaptation of a book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. There are a couple of good movies of this one.

    ReplyDelete
  53. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! I must, must, must win this!!!

    #1 Twilight Fan (freak!) ever!!!!

Sooooo super cool!! Did I mention that I must win???

  60. Blog post completed!! Another entry!!!

    PICK ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, I really am that pathetic!

    ReplyDelete
  61. Queenie Jeannie sent me your way! I haven't read the book yet. But, I plan to soon!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I blogged about your fabulous contest!

    ReplyDelete
  63. What a wonderful giveaway! I thought the updated Romeo and Juliet (with Leonardo di Caprio) was a great book adaptation. I loved the Notebook.

I'm not a fan of the HP movies. Mostly because the books are true fiction, meaning everything in them is unreal, something for you to create in your imagination, and my imagination does not match the directors.

    ReplyDelete
  64. OK this is a lot to absorb when you have just had surgery and on a lot of pain meds. I will try mny hardest though because Twilight is my new love and lucky for me hubby is gone for 15 mo right now so I can hang my poster from my book wherever I want LOL. So here....

#1. I am only half way through the first book. I pout off getting it because I don't normally read stories about vampires. It is the best vampire story I have ever read so far and I am only half way through. I just love to think of Edward and Bella together. They make me feel young again. It pains me to think of what Edward goes thought thinking he may ultimately hurt her.

Movie adaptations hmmmm I am a huge Stephen King fan. I have read most of his older books and seen most of the movies. I think for the most part the movies go along with the books but there are usually a lot of differences. I hope I explained that right I am a little out of it right now LOL.

I will be the happiest person ever if I win this contest!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I blogged about your prize on my Mommatudes blog! Maybe that will bring some hits - but it will also bring more competitors.. :(

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yes, I have read the book. I enjoyed them all.

My favorite movie adaptations have been the Harry Potter ones. I know that they left a lot of stuff out, but because of the fantastical nature of the books, it was so great to see someone's interpretation of all the things in the book I had been using my imagination for.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Followin you now! Thought I already was oh well I am now thats all that matters right?

Another entry for me wooo hooooo!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Oh please enter me for the drawing. I just finished Twilight on Wednesday and I am going through withdrawl because I havent gotten the second book yet. So any how, my favorite book to movie adaptation is the Green Mile. I loved the book (several times) and loved the movie. They completely stuck to the story line in the book and that made me very very happy. I cant wait to see Twilight and see if they do as good a job.
So here is my comment, and I will follow you and PLEASE PICK ME!!!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm still following you, loving your giveaways, and hitting up my friends for copies of the series to borrow so I can read it. ;) I'll get a blog written about this soon.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Best book to movie adaptation, in my opinion, would have to be Interview With A Vampire. Queen of the Damned, however...

    ReplyDelete
  71. I would be in any contest that offers Lula's signature as a prize!

Best adaption of a movie? The Godfather -hands down!!!!

I haven't read Twilight, and since I am the only person on the continent who hasn't ...it seems fitting that I should win this .

    ReplyDelete
  72. The best movie was probably the Lord of the Rings, hands down. They were great!

Although this isn't a movie, I'd say that the worst were Gossip Girl. But if I had to choose, i'd say eragon. Very bad.

  73. Whew OK I got my blog post in. That took it all out of me and now I need a nap. Have fun reading everyones post about how much they covet your giveaway items LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I came out from under rock and started reading Twilight, after my daughter begged and pleaded.

Best adaptation of book to movie ... Colin Firth edition of Pride and Prejudice. Worst book to movie ... hmmmm, maybe Stephen King's It ... don't know how true to the book it is, it just freaked me out.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm a follower ... don'tcha know it!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I haven't read the book yet, but I know a lot of people who have! I just haven't gotten around to buying it yet, but I will soon! I think the best movie and book combo is The Notebook!

  78. So I guess the weekend giveaways upped your weekend comments huh? I'm 89! Wowzer!

I have read all 4 books and they are all fast, great reads. I was a little disappointed in The Firm movie adaptation cause it was different than the book. But that was probably a time thing. But I still like the movie too so I'm picking it as both my fav and my most disappointing.

    Great prizes btw!

    ReplyDelete
  79. I follow you...to the store.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I admit all my young women at church were reading them and I got sucked in..so sucked in I read all of them before most had finished one! At least all those years of readng in grad school paid off!

    ReplyDelete
  81. I tried to read the book, but I quit it after the car accident in the parking lot. I know, I know...just go back to it. I plan to, as soon as my To Read pile gets smaller.
I'm not generally a fan of movie adaptations of books, mostly because I read the books first and LOVE them, and no movie can do for me what the books do. That being said, all of the Potter movies are so well done.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Sorry, haven't gotten into Twilight. But I love your playlist, Pretty in Pink-also loved the movie! The Cure is absolute.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Great contest! I have gotten into Twilight, and I liked the first book, but I thought the others were ok. I know MANY Twilight fans too though. Best movie adaptation...hmm I don't know of many so I'll go with Narnia 1, because I thought it stayed quite true to the book and the movie was great :) Worst...hmm because I am a Harry Potter fan as well and I adore the books, I would say Order of the Phoenix, because some replacement plot points were so lame.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I keep messing up your name! I don't know why I keep saying Cupcakes instead of Lemonade....so sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  85. I've been out of it all week, completely emmersed in Edward and Bella. I'm in the middle of book four and can't imagine how they are going to transfer any of this intense relationship to a big screen. I love the goodies you've got this week!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. OK, following the "Rules", I think the best movie anticipation is... uhh... this one! And for the worst... uhh... don't have one. and you know i read the books :)

    ReplyDelete
  87. Wow what a great prize. I will admit to only having the vaguest idea about Twilight and that is only because a friends daughter is hooked on it hence why I'm entering. Not sure if you post international but my buddy is Stateside :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. my goodness what a prize pack. that is going to make one twilight fan really happy.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I've read all the books & cannot wait to see the movie. From what I have seen, it seems they did a great job with the movie. I'm not happy with all the actors though, especially Esme. Rosalie & Edward are the best I think. This is an amazing prize!

  103. Wow that's a serious prize pack!

I'll admit I haven't read the books yet... I'm too broke to buy them and the waitlist at the library is INSANE, even for the first one. I do want to read them though, and I'd definitely put that giftcard to use and finally jump on the Twilight train if I won. :)

Worst adaptation: The Golden Compass. I LOVE those books, and I was so disappointed by the movie. I think this is one of those books that's just much too complex to be made into a film.

Best adaptation: So far, I'd have to say the Harry Potter movies, because they're extremely entertainig while staying very true to the books. I'm hoping The Time Traveler's Wife will be fantastic, because the book is one of my favorites. It's got a great cast...

Great contest! I'll be crossing my fingers over here. :)

  104. Wow your hand is going to fall off on this one!
    1. I have read the 1st 2. Eclipse is on my floor waiting for me to be out of school for a few days. I loved Harry Potter movies they wre very true to the books. The worst-- City of Ember? It changed and left out my fav part of the book! :( The blue color pencil coloring the sky and who found the message from above..great YA book though.
    2. I you already follow you along with the ret of the planet :)

  105. OMG...GREAT PRIZE!! I LOVE Twilight!!! I'm slightly obsessed actually..LOL! I've read all four books and Midnight Sun, which I hope she finishes.

Favorite book adaptation would probably be The Green Mile. I love the books, and I thought they did a good job with the movie.

Worst book adaptation...Along Came a Spider. Not sure why...just didn't really like the movie and I loved the book.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I read all the books in the Twilight series, I read them in record time of about 5 day for all. Love them!!
The best book adaption to movie, "The Green Mile"
The worst " Message in a Bottle"
I am follower and am posting on my site right now.

  107. I think the best movie adaptions of a books (or books!!) are...

Harry Potter, they are just perfect and have brang to life what i had pictured in my head Hogwarts and the characters were like.

    and

The Green Mile by Stephen King, such a wonderful and moving book, and the story and characters were adapted so well for film.

So there you go! I'm in!!

    ReplyDelete
  108. i was going to say another stephen kind book, the dreamcatchers, was exactly how i pictured the characters and events. i read the book before the movie came out by the way.

  109. I just ordered the Twilight series on my Kindle tonight so I can't comment on THEM yet.

My favorite movie adaptation of a book? The World According to Garp.

Worst adaptation? TOO TOO TOO many to choose from!

  110. This is the first giveaway that I am like I WANT THIS! Usually I am like...oh, that would be cute. But I WANT THIS!

I read the book and am waiting on the money to buy the others! I wasn't sure I was going to like it cause I am a Laurell K. Hamilton fan and no one does a vampire book like she does. But it keep me reading the whole time! I love it when I get another person's spin on how a vampire lives! I am already following you...do I comment that? I prob do.

    Someone is gonna be haaaappy.

  113. Yea, I've read all the books, TWICE. BAHAHAHA What a cool prize package:)

I think the Harry Potter movie's are my favorite from a book. The worst? Any Stephen King movie--for some reason they just cannot get it right in Hollywood! The Stand was close, but it was a mini-series.

  115. As I rule I am generally disappointed with movie adaptations. But I love Gone With The Wind, Emma, and Pride and Prejudice. I am a 40 year old woman currently nuts about Bella and Edward. My 19 year old daughter started the obsession when she said, "I know you don't like dark books mom, but you HAVE to read this." Love! Love! Love!
We will be standing in line on Friday. Can't wait!

  117. I have NOT read the books! I keep trying to win a cop for myself, since my teen daughter won't give hers up yet!!! Best movie adaptation...maybe the Harry Potter movies? They were really well done. Worst? Any that were based on a Nicholas Sparks book. The movies were so trite, compared to the books!

hmmmm...i think a worst movie adaption of a book might be secret window...and i love johnny depp...but the movie was terrible compared to the book...the ending was even changed! i think the shining was a pretty good adaptation of the book...not exact but i think made it a lille bit better almost...

    thanks!

  121. That's a tough question.... but here goes. I do think Da Vinci Code was a good movie but it was no where near the level of the book. I was somewhat disappointed in the movie version, although perhaps I had hyped it too much in my head. I'm worried about that with Twilight. I hope it is as good as it is in my head! Ha! I don't know the best movie adaptation ~ possibly Lord of the Rings.
Anyway, I just got tapped into this Twilight series. I didn't think a book about Vampires would be my taste but I read the first one and absolutely loved it. I've ordered the box set. It should get in Thursday. Can't wait to find out what happens!!!

I have not read the book so I would be way excited to get this so I can go and get the book and be all indoctrinated :)

My favorite book to movie adaptions (I have several) are God's & Generals, Lord Of The Rings, and Sense & Sensibility. My least favorite is any of Les Miserables. That was one of the best books ever and all the movies don't do it justice.

  135. Yes. I read all 4 books. And I don't think it's amazing literature but I was very entertained.
I just finished watching A&Es adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and thought it was very well done. Very well done!
The worst adaptation I've seen would have to be The Other Boelyn Girl.

  136. And I'm now following your blog. :)

  137. I've read the Twilight series. Love it!! Best movie adaptation - The Notebook. Worst - hmm...can't think of one right off the top of my head.

  139. Let's see. I've only read the first book, but I look forward to my sister-in-law passing the others in the series to me soon.

As for movies based on books...I rarely see one that I think is actually worthy of the book...For the most part they are pretty horrible. A few exceptions...Hanging Up was far better in movie form than in book form. More recently The Secret Life Of Bees was really pretty good. Great cast.

    ReplyDelete
  140. And I am now a follower. Did you make 100?

    ReplyDelete
  141. I read all the books and loved every single one! Best movie adaption would have to be Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It was extremely accurate, except for a few minor details. I love that series as well, of course these are totally opposite kind of books, LOL.
The worst... lets see... the prequel star wars episode 1-3. The book was much better!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I posted a post about your giveaway! YAY I can't wait to see if I won, Hope I DO!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Okay so I am ashamed to admit that I have not read the books...can I still enter? I really want to read the books...I do. But I've heard that once you pick them up, you can't do anything for days but read and I just haven't got the time to do that right now. But I will...soon.

Anyway, the worst movie adaptation of a book was the Virgin Suicides like ten years ago. Yuck. The best was probably...hmm....I don't know. I guess I will have to go with Charlottes Web. Genius.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Of Course I've read the books! And of course I'm going to see the movie, can't wait till Friday!

Hmmm, I think my favorite adaption of a book would be Of Mice and Men. An oldy but a goody!

Thanks for letting me enter, woot!

  145. Wow! What a great package. I am OBSESSED with twilight and have been following anything that has to do with this movie since it was in pre-production stages! I'm such a big fan of it that I am even choregraphing a competition routine based on the meadow scene for a colorguard that I coach!

I think my favorite movie adaptation is A Walk To Remember (Nicholas Sparks). There were only a few minor differences from the book but the movie brings me to tears EVERY time!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that I win!

    ReplyDelete
  146. I finally posted about your contest!!

    ReplyDelete
  147. wow! This would be an amazing gift for my daughter who is a HUGE Twilight fan. We all ready have our tickets to see the movie and she can't wait.
The best book to film adaptation in my opinion would be Harry Potter, I love the graphics in the movie and it really follows the story line.
I'm trying to think of the worst, but am having trouble. I know some are worse than others, but I can't think of any that are just horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Just blogged about the contest...Did you decided just to go ahead and give me this stuff? To heck with all the others! I jest. maybe

  154. I actually just started reading Twilight this week. After hearing so much talk, I bought Twilight. I have not bought the other books yet, I thought I'd read the first book and see. I am really enjoying it.

I think the best adaptation of a book would be To Kill A Mockingbird. Fantastic.

The worst adaptation....I think it's either the most recent Harry Potter...that was terrible. It did not show anything that the book was about it. It was like it jumped around without making any sense. I also did not care for Beloved. I loved the book, but the movie missed a lot, again, not making sense to anyone who had not read the book.

I hope the adaptation of Twilight is close to the book. I hate when they stray drastically like the Shopaholic movie looks to be.

  155. I've read all four books and even though I'm in my 30's, I love this series. I've been looking forward to the movie coming out for quite a while now.

I think the best movie adaptation of a book is probably the Harry Potter series. The first two weren't quite as true to the book as the later ones, but they were all quite good.

I'm not sure about the worst honestly. I'm not sure I've seen many others unless I just wasn't aware they were books. I did like the Sisterhood of the Traveling pants, but I haven't read the book so I don't know how it compares.

    ReplyDelete
  156. I've also blogged about it.

  157. I have yet to read Twilight, but am anxiously awaiting a copy of it!
The best movie adaptation of a book (that I have seen and read) would be "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks. I loved the book and was very happy with how closely sthe movie followed the book. The worst for me aould be "Love Comes Softly" by Janette Oke. The made-for-tv movie changed so much that I had a hard time accepting the differences on their own merrits.

  158. Alright leaving my first comment - Yes, I read all four books and PART of midnight sun ... only part because reading online make my eyes burn and I am just sure she will release the full story and I rather read it all at once. The best movie adaptation I have watched was The 5 People You Meet in Heaven... I know a lot of people don't agree but everything was exactly like I pictured it in my head after reading the book!

    ReplyDelete
  159. I am now following you - I love followers/following :)

The WORST movie adaptation... probably the Stephen King movie of Thinner... I hated that movie.

  162. I have read all four books in the series! Since Michael Crichton just passed away, I will focus on his books. I thought Jurassic Park was a terrific adaptation. They did they best they could with the book and made a great movie. However, Congo was a terrible adaptation. The book was very entertaining and the movie was just awful!

  164. Yes, I've read the books (the 1st 3, at least). I'm really thinking about that best book to movie adaptation. Hmmm...maybe Pride and Prejudice? The worst? I have the WORST memory! I have no idea. I'm one of those people who forgets all of the details from a movie or a book the day after I'm done with it. Hmmm...

    ReplyDelete
  165. PS--I'm following you now! Maybe I should post a contest to get more followers on my blog. :)

  166. I have not actually read the books but my daughter has, and she loved them. As for the best and worst movie adaptions of a book, I think I would have to go for Harry Potter movies for both. I always forget the names of the different ones...but the first one seemed to be the closest to the book and the best in my opinion. I thought the last one was one of the worst because it didn't seem to really capture the book.

  167. OMG...I loved the books. I have read all 4 and am thinking about re-reading 2 & 3 just because I read them so fast I want to make sure of what I read.

I have seen the movie and believe they did as well as they could with only using 1 book as their story line. Had they used 1&2, it could have had a bit more umph to it. One problem, tho, was if you didn't read the book, you might have been a bit lost in the movie.

As for the best adaptation, I am horrible w/ the names of movies and if I've actually seen them. I am more of a book person and would probably have to go w/ the Harry Potters as they so far have been doing pretty good.

Worst adaptation? hmmm....Jurassic Park left A LOT more out of the movie than they should have...that's all that's popping in my head right now...lol
