Priceless

One week at Camp Invention. And two pieces of "art" that are now in my house:

$400.00

One week of sleep away Camp. And a candle that resembles a phallus...also at my house...prominently displayed in the dining room:

$800.00

Two weeks of kid-free days to blog and procrastinate:

$Priceless

Great post! And could they MAKE bigger art?! Love the candle though. They will be horribly embarrassed about it in a few (I mean 30!) years.

Angie--Ahhh...but we could have come home with their rocket ships, too. But alas, someone else in their group claimed those first. Alas, alas, alas...

And the candles...you should have seen the other two...that broke. They were quite similar...with big, bulbous "nodules" on either side. But, alas...they were disposed of before I got my camera out. So, so sad...

very interesting art! The candle comment had me laughing...

Keys to the Magic Travel said...

Hey Joye! I've missed seeing you around...hope your classes are going well...and that you are having fun practing for that other thing on your list of "chores" for the summer ;-)

We are leaving in an hour for Texas...and what am I doing? Showering? Packing? Feeding my children? Alas, alas, alas...

Debbie said...

Interesting! But at least you got to have endless hours blogging and procrastinating!

Acrimony said...

Goodness, where exactly does one put art that big?

Teri said...

I think you really need to consider an addition to your home. Everyone needs an art gallery. Wonder if you could market that candle? We have a Love Shack in our town. I'm just sayin'.

Science camp starts Monday for us. Can't wait! :)

Lula! said...

Wait a minute, Kat--that ain't no phallic symbol. The red and purple part of the candle is obviously an abstract vagina.

And NO, before everyone asks if mine looks like that.

I'm just sayin'. It's a tootie.

ROFL That's...umm...some artwork you got there. WOW. It's all big and colorful and that candle, whatever it is, is clearly rated R. lol

This was the funniest post I've seen in a while. I am laughing so hard.

BTW, you better have scheduled some posts while you're gone to Texas...I need me some KAT fixes!! DAILY!

Oh, yeah, have a great time!!

Rhea said...

I still can't get over the uniqueness of that candle. lol

I love that you leave in an hour and you're blogging. That sounds like me. lol

Where did you get that awesome thing on Katie's head? My boys would LOVE that. The girls both look so cute and hip.

Insane Mama said...

Hmmm, not sure if it's R rated or I need more coffee, maybe I should come back in an hour or so...
Now, on to the bigger pieces, tell those kids of yours to turn them into cleaning robots and you will be good to go!!

Skeller said...

You forgot to add that with all that "homemade" art in your home now, you look like a mom who gets points for doing crafts with the kiddos (shhh.... we only know it's from camp because you said so!)

Angie's Spot said...

OMG Kat, I'm ROFLMAO at that candle. Hysterical! She will definitely be embarrassed by it in another 10 years, so make sure you keep it in pristine condition. I have 2 summers to go before I can ship mine off for at least half days during the summer. Sigh... :-)

Firefly Mom said...

Wow - the creativity that is running through your children is, is, is...indescribable! I'm thinking you should save that candle to whip out the first time she has a boy over for dinner. *snort* The joy you'd get from seeing the look on her face would be "priceless".

Heather said...

That is one fine specimen of a candle, Kat. Seriously. I'm laughing so hard right now, I have no words.

Ok - no blog has EVER made me blow Coke out my nose like you just did with this post! Your girls are darling and their inventions are truly inspiring - though don't ask me what exactly the candle inspires one to do.

PS - I'm here from SITS - don't you love that place?

ya gotta love those kid free days!!

Kristen Schiffman said...

Oh. That. Candle.

lol. I mean, come on. It is PERFECT. And I know it just must mesh wonderfully with the rest of your home decor.

Missy said...

Seriously, your daughters will want to crawl under a ROCK when they get older and see that candle! Add some change to the therapy fund baby! (:

I love camp! Even though mine are old enough to fend for themselves, I look forward to the quiet house. Kinda sad, though, as it's a reminder that they will be gone for good all too soon...

Kimba said...

Those are some serious works of art! Do you think they could be a little bigger! But the kids look so proud.

The large sculpture looks like a "robot" that my sister and I made out of veggie cans as children - very creative!

EmBee said...

Oh, I can't stop laughing over that candle... It's not only phallic but resembles something you might see in an ob/gyn's office.

One things for sure, your kids will never doubt your devotion to their artistic skills.

Melanie Dickens said...

Simply wonderful. That will be an embarresing picture for the future. I do believe that could be worse than the dreaded bathtub pictures.

omg hahahhaha at the candle but I totally hear you on the priceless one LOL

Oh my gosh! That designer candle belongs in an art museum! Lucky you!!

YAY, Kat...SITS fame via a penisy/vagina-esque candle.

It's a tootie. I maintain my stance on the issue.

Have a FUN day, girl!

But the kids are cute!

That candle still cracks me up. Over and over and over again. It would make a funny (but risque) greeting card...

Sunshine said...

Oh NoWAH...it is much to early for my eyes to see that! It's not even 7 a.m.! Good lord! I was just talking about camp w/my mom last night and getting my girls in it next year, etc...

I do love me some candles...

P.S. Saw ya on SITS!

If I'm ever a stay at home mom during the summer again, I'll SO be looking into camp for my kids. What a wise choice. :)

KatBouska said...

Congrats on your special day!! I bet your in comment heaven.

Can I get the info. for that camp? I've got a one year old who is DYING to go.

Alison said...

Oh, that is too funny about the candle. And it looks like you've got some very creative daughters.

Insane Mama said...

Congrats on your day, I already love you...remember all of us little ones when your day is done. :)

Oh NO! I may seem like a bad mom writing this, but I hate all the crap that they create and bring home from church/camps/playgroups, etc. I'm all for keeping a few pieces of artwork, don't get me wrong, but so far all of the pieces I want to keep have been made at home.

Don't the people that run these places understand!?!?

Tami said...

Too funny!!

After seeing those HUGE projects you are now the owner of it kinda puts those clay school trinket Mother's Day gifts I got in a new light!

Wow, you'll really want to hang onto those masterpieces forever! Do you happen to have an extra room just for them? And the candle, I hit the floor laughing at that one! Hysterical.

We need to start a camp of our own---recruit all our blogless friends to watch our kiddos while we get the same luxury you had!

Hold on to that art. It might be worth something some day!

I'd like to just giggle. A lot. I'm sooo looking forward to the years that will be coming when I'll have wee ones in school and in camp and not in my hair (not that I don't enjoy spending time with them...).
