Wordless Wednesday: Weeds and Hydrangeas

Well...last week we had our grand tour of the front yard. There is not that much to see around back. We have weeds:

But, I don't recall ever seeing these pretty little flowers with my clover or other weeds before. Kinda makes 'em pretty. I think I'll keep the round-up put away.

And then we have a bunch of overgrown hydrangeas. With only one lonely bloom.

Would you call these lavender?

Maybe Periwinkle?

How about Purple Haze?

I think Wordless Wednesday should be renamed, "Wonderfully Wordy Wednesday" in your honor. :)

I miss my Hydrangeas (lace caps are my fav). I tend to let weeds which flower live side-by-side with my "real" plants. LOL!

Cheers,
Jenny .... off to the pool soon, it's so hot!

I doubt Jimi was thinking about purple flowers, but hey I like the tie in. :)

Lisa--I bet hydrangeas in a wedding bouquet were beautiful. You should post a picture on your blog :-)

Angie--well, I think last week I was given a crown for the wordiest wordless Wednesday ever. A crown followed by a re-naming would be most appropriate.

Jenny--so...are these lace caps? My plant vocab is so very small. Have fun at the pool!

Jeanne--yes, the shortcake is wonderful. You'll have to let me know if you try it. Because it is all your fault I discovered those apple dumplings in the first place.

Mama Peep--send some of that rain our way. We are wilting.

Paula--You really don't think Jimi was thinking of Hydrangeas? Really? He couldn't have been thinking of "weeds" could he? ;-)

I think technically speaking in gardening terms that's blue. I know ... I have issues with it also but they seems to call purple 'blue' quite frequently.
Have a great day!

Blarney--Really? I've seen blue hydrangeas...and they are really blue. And I read somewhere that purple is rather rare in a hydreangea...but I think these are somewhere in the middle. Not sure what color they would be. But, in my "I don't speak plant" world...I like making up my own colors for them! :-)

At least you got one bloom. I haven't had any on my hydrangea for years. I need to move it!

I don't even attempt Wordless Wednesday because I can't do it! I'm wordy when it comes to writing and blogging (but not talking).

Kat, LOVE the close ups of the hydrangea (and I had to look up in other people's comments to spell it correctly because I'm a horrible speller). You did a great job, and that purple color is AWESOME!!

By the way, I went to Bath & Bodyworks today and thought of you! I bought some sweet smelling stuff. :o)

My favorite flower! Isn't it hot in suburbia GA today. Hot Lanta!

Debbie--wonder why yours isn't blooming. And of course I want to know why I just get one bloom from all of those hydrangea bushes! Very strange.

Rhea--Awww...come on...you really don't have to be wordless. I am hardly ever wordless. Ever. What did you get at Bath and Body works? I have a coupon and need to get over there...running out of soaps...

Sheryl--yep, very hot. But my AC is working quite nicely :-)

Those weeds are more my yard's style. :) I just love the hydranga. I always called them the poof flowers.

Joye--The weeds are all the rage in the back yard. Even when Michael mowed the grass over the weekend, he ignored one huge section of weed. He thought I must have planted it there because it was so big. :-)

Hey, I'd call them "Beautiful." My bloggie friend, Kat, taught me that word. (wink)

Susan--Awww...you are too sweet :-) Does crayola have a color called beautiful?

I'm with Purple Haze. That pic is gorgeous! My grandma used to have every color of hydrangea in her yard. We called them snowballs. Ah, memories...

The hydrangeas are beautiful. I planted 4 last year...perfect for a drought - Not. After all outdoor watering was banned, I didn't even go to that side of the yard for the rest of summer. I was sure they all died. I have been pleasantly surprised to find them blooming and again for weeks now. And they are blue, purple, lavendar and pink, all at the same time. I don't know why.

Oh, and I had those little yellow flowers this year, too. I call them "freebies"! :-)

'Scuse me while I kiss the sky. I can always count on you, Kat, to help me get my groove on.

At least your hydrangea is bloomin'--mine won't show any love 'til July. But this is the price I pay for living away from God's Chosen Land, aka Georgia.

Kat - At B&B I got some foamy soaps that smell good, some lotions and body gel for my Pinkalicious Swap partner, some stuff for our teacher gifts and for my mother-in-law (who decided to come visit yesterday afternoon, surprise!).

I love it! Wordless doesn't really mean wordless at your house either! Sweet!
I mean really, who reads blogs just to look at pictures? that is not reading that is looking and I prefer to read, then laugh, then giggle, then think, gosh I really am normal!
So your post makes me feel normal. I too have yard/weed/issues. Yours are much prettier than mine. I am jealous! I wish that I could have hydrangeas!
Dang Desert!!!

It took me two hours to scroll down to the comment page. MAN, YOU'RE GETTING POPULAR!! I would call that a purple haze hydrangea and this song is soooo groovy.

Keys to the Magic Travel said...

Angie--I like purple haze, too. And the song. We didn't have hydrangeas at our old house...so I'm not quite sure what I should be doing with them. But we are enjoying the one lonely bloom. Maybe more will join it. But it doesn't look that way.

Jill--you have been mia for a while...glad to see you back!

Teri--I love "freebies!" And I love that my weeds are pretty. The grass is surely not growing...but I have a pretty carpet of yellow and purple flowers.

Lula--Not till July? Well...hopefully you'll get some love. I'm getting just the one peck. And I am so thrilled that I can get you to turn off your i-tunes and tune into me :-)

Rhea--I just got my box off today for my swap partner. I cannot wait to get a box of goodies :-)

Tausha--Ummm...the word "wordless" is quite regularly ignored here. It's just a suggestion, right? How can you have pictures and not tell the story?

Heather--Right back at ya babe...I have to go through so many to comment for you, too :-) But, you'll notice...yours are real comments. At least half of my comments are ME!
