The Real Thang

See why I am not a fan of wordless? It leaves too many questions. All unanswered. Words would have explained it all. Eased all of your concerns. And doubts. All because of a simple little picture. And I'll tell you. It is real. It is a real ultrasound. Of me. With a baby in my belly. Approximately 8 weeks along.

However. That baby. Well. She's come a long way...baby. Because now...she looks like this:

And those mad photoshop skills. Well...those belong to my husband. Who simply changed the date. Somehow. I don't know how. Because I don't have the mad skills. The tech skills. The savvy. Just the brilliant idea. And I have spent the day basking in my own cleverness. Ignoring emails. Screening my calls.

And many many thanks to those of you who believed. Even just a smidge. Because you made my day! I especially loved the email from Lizzy accusing me of taking advantage of a brain-addled, half-bald man. I don't think I have ever done an April Fool's prank before. Though I am a big fan.

Google does some of the best. Especially for people with gmail accounts. Last year they offered up a new program that let you have 5 email date changes a year. So that you could pre date work that had to be emailed. Or suit some other correspondence to your date needs. All based on the science of the "e-flux capicator."

And then this year they offered up a new program called "autopilot." Gmail will save you time by reading and responding to your email messages. Simply by mimicing your style. How often you have typos. Even to your own level of emoticon use. "It's like you, but automated."

Or who remembers when Taco Bell said that they bought the Liberty Bell? And that they were now going to call it the Taco Liberty Bell?

Or last year on you tube, when all videos linked to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give you up?"

But. I think my favorite pranks come from the BBC. I think that they pioneered the corporate prank with their Swiss spaghetti harvest of 1957.

And I loved their entry last year. With the discovery that penguins really can fly.

So...what about you? Did you fall for any pranks this year? Do you have a favorite? Are you much of a jokester? Oh...and I have extended the contest for the copy of "Bride and Prejudice." Just click here to enter. Winner will be announced on Friday.

I knew it wasn't real!

I mean, it is real.

But not real.

I knew it. That Michael, he's got some serious photoshop skills. I'll be contacting him for some help with a project that I have. LOL!

Love the penguins flying video! I didn't fall for anything this year. I'm not much of a jokester, but I can appreciate a good prank that fools me.

As a woman married to a man who still can't remember our e-mail address (that we've had for 14 years), I am in awe of your hubby's mad skills.

Katrina!!!!! I promise I am going to drive up there and give you the baby gift I had planned in my mind!!!

I suffered a terrible April Fools joke. My daughters (7 and 9) hid my panties. That's right, my panties. I had two choices for the day: Commando or my husbands boxers (thank goodness he has a 32 inch waist!) I chose the boxers and laughed hysterically at myself when I deliberated between Gap tartan plaids or jockey sky blue solid.

Later, as I stood in front of a male client discussing art, I almost felt empowered to reach down and scratch myself...almost.

I didn't...I was wearing a skirt...I was still a lady!

Pranks are fun and I always fall for them. But I go back and forth all day! It sure was a fun day.

I saw that autopilot thing yesterday and was like, wtf?!

I knew you were joking. I love Lizzy's email comment. Don't laugh; we've had patients and families gettin' it on in the ICU, even.

Weird.

I'm glad I'm playing catch up and missed this yesterday. I would've gotten much to excited. OK, and those BBC pranks are priceless!! I've never seen those before!

Michael does have some serious skills. It was dead on.

I got Stevie and then got my stepmom when I re-told the story. Not because I was trying but because she is gullible.

Oh! I was fooled:)

The e-flux capicator comment cheered me up. Did Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown help ya?:) The three films have been on Starz all last month.

well, it was real several years ago , and you have a beautiful daughter to show for it:)

I'm not much of a prankster, but at work yesterday , the 7th grade kiddos were playing really stupid jokes on one another that I had to stop sometimes before they made too big a fools of themselves, lol.

I was pretty sure it was a joke but you did have me going a little bit. Glad you enjoyed your April Fool's prank!

I'm not a jokester, and I outlawed pranks in my class this year. We did do the day basically backwards, as far as subjects go, which they thought was fun.
I didn't fall for any. Well, yours a little bit. I was hoping! LOL

Hi Kat, I just found you from SITS! Your sense of humor is dark........very scary...LOL. I love it. No jokes or pranks here, I just don't have it in me......but I love a good prank!
I look forward to reading more about you.

LOL !!! I was out having fun, so I missed that post. However, I will admt, Iprobably would have been taken in :-)

The hubby, woke me up at 6:15 am and told me I'd be late for school. I actually believed him for a second, then remembered that I hd been on Spring Break for a week and a half.

He later admitted tat day, that it had been a April Fools prank, but the murderous glint in my eye, stopped him saying 'April Fools' !!!

I pulled one on a friend years ago. She had just purchased a waterbed and was having problems with the store because THEY forgot to add some things into her total, but she had already signed the paperwork.

Well, I had my aunt, in another state, call her at work and say she was some regional VP, and that they had decided she would have to pay up or no bed.

My friend got all mad, threatened to sue...then my aunt let her off the hook and told her that she might want to hold off on that, because it was a joke from [insert my name].

I was never able to get her again, and I've never really tried to get anyone else.

Mr. B told me that someone put an offer on ourhouse.

You are a mean mean lady. A Very Mean Lady :) At least I'm way behind on my blog reading, so I could just check to see if it's true. I will say that your husband is VERY impressive. Nicely done.

I missed that blog post!! LOL
That's pretty good stuff Kat!

My son pulled a April Fool's joke on his sister. She had just gotten off his computer and left his room. He went in, found a blue screen of death wallpaper and put it up. Called her back in and had her look at what SHE did to his computer. She freaked. And cried. He laughed.

I know I am soooo behind on this! I'd heard from Elena all about this hilarious prank but finally had to come over and check it out for myself. I agree....hilarious :)!!!

I am so sad I missed this .. I stared at it for three or four minutes, trying to get my brain to work correctly.

I hate the paranoia of April Fools .. BUT I do love a good prank =-)

Unfortunately, this year I was making a secret trip home to collect all of my things without my husband knowing. I find this ironic and a bit funny now.

Oh, yeah .. this is Britt from Quietly Chaotic. I moved .. come visit sometime! =-)
