Hooligan kitty strikes again.
She is usually causing trouble of some sort. Chewing up my blinds. Eating crocs. Jumping up on the table. Having to get part of her intestines removed.
She is also a very social kitty. She likes to be where the people are. She greets you when you walk in the door. She likes to follow you to bed. To the bathroom. To the shower.
So when you are in a room. Alone. For more than a few minutes. You know that something is wrong. She is most likely locked in a closet. Because she stealthily snuck in while you were getting out a towel. Or on quiet kitty tip-toes snuck into the pantry while you were rummaging for a snack. Or in the dark, you didn't notice the gray streak as you attempt to find a pair of jeans from the shelves of your clothes closet.
And off you go. On a quest to find hooligan kitty. Opening all doors. And at the same time trying to make sure that sister of hooligan kitty does not get caught in the same predicament. Often you will open doors and no cat will come charging out. You must actually look on each shelf. Under clothes that are hanging. Behind the cereal boxes. Because the kitty is snoozing. And entertained. Just knowing that are you are trying to find her. She is content to lay quietly in wait. Biding her time. And waiting to stretch out that tell-tale paw till you come looking for a second time. Or a third.
A few weeks ago, hooligan kitty pulled off the disappearing act of the century. She was in the kitchen when I left the house. But when I got home. Only her sister was to be found. I knew immediately something was up. She didn't come when called. She didn't come when I added food to her bowl. She didn't come when I started shaking her noisy toys.
I began my quest. She wasn't in the pantry. In any of the closets. Under the bed. In the bathtub. She was no where.
When Katie got home, I had her help me to look. We looked where I knew she wasn't. We looked where we knew she couldn't be. So, I called the last person that might have seen her. The housekeeper.
Apparently she left me a message that I didn't see. To tell me that hooligan kitty had jumped up on my book cases. These book cases. The ones that are 8 feet tall. Yep. Those.
And then. She jumped behind them. Jumped. Not fell. Jumped. You see. There is a space behind the book cases. The CD shelves don't go all the way to the wall. And Rhonda, our housekeeper, couldn't move the bookcases to save hooligan kitty. She couldn't move them because the bookcases are bolted to the wall. And to each other. Again - because some of them don't actually go to the wall. And that space. It called to Hooligan kitty. And asked her to fill it.
And as I stood in front of these shelves. Talking to Rhonda. And wondering where on earth the screw drivers might be kept. I heard a plaintative meow.
I got Katie started with taking ALL the books off the shelves. While I went to find a screw driver. Both kinds. And a step stool. And then I started unscrewing. And unscrewing. And a little more unscrewing. And then with a little brute force. I moved that book case.
And what to my wandering eye should appear? But a fluffy hooligan kitty. With her tail up. And a sway to her hips. And an "I meant to do that" meow. And after she had said her peace. She turned right back around and settled herself into her new hidey hole. Quite proud. As she thought about her cousin. The cat that swallowed the canary.

Wow, she really is a little hooligan. Look at that stinker. Cats, I tell ya. Only a cat would do that. They've got an attitude that dogs can't compete with.
It's so wonderful to see you posting again. I'm so happy things are slowly returning to a more normal pace.
Awwww kitty looks like my Auggi and Fizzi...they were both tuxedo kitties too. As for getting where they dont belong...that's more like my Claudius...he had a BAD habit of climbing the artificial Christmas tree. I always had to tie the tree in a corner to make sure it didnt fall over.
LOL ... I can see the attitude all over her face. Only a cat can get away with that. I love it ... that's why I always have a cat in my life ... never a dull moment.
I once had a kitten that crawled under my built-in dishwasher and required that I practically dismantle my kitchen to get her out! And, when I got her out, she just looked at me with that attitude that let me know that she considered the whole incident my fault! Well, at least now you can reorganize, right?
Thus, the reason we don't have pets... It is all I can do to keep track of my kids! Have I told you how happy I am that you are back?
He looks so proud of himself! He found a new hiding spot, drove you nuts, and never had to compromise his dignity. In the cat world that's a home run! LOL
after all that , I think I'd be missing a cat. I'm all up for antics but having to dismantle an entire set of shelves to find a hooligan kitty? no thank you. I'm not a big cat fan, but I will admit that she is cute.
What a cut kittie! You have just made me happy that both of mine are too fat for something like that to happen ;)
you are such an amazing storyteller! I already knew the tale and i still smiled and laughed! It's soooo great to have you blogging again!
You and your kitty adventures! What a little stinker! And now that she's found that spot, she's bound to do it again. You might as well leave the books on the bed. :)
And I thought my cat was a brat! What a kitty!
What a stinkerbutt!!
I can totally see something like that occurring with BOTH of my cats. Either one of them would be brazen enough to pull that off. However, Sasha--the meek, would do it entirely by accident. I think Lucky is planning something of the like as we speak.
Cats. Never a dull moment.
And this is why I have & love them. Even though, some days, I just want to shave them and hang them by their claws. You know those days...
Good grief, that's funny!
It makes me miss my mischevious cat Baby. She could open cabinets and eat Hershey's Kisses leaving little piles of foil and flags in her wake. She was a freak who sat on the tops of open doors too.
I love weird cats!
Oh man. You are soooo in trouble with that one.
Bad bad kitty. hehe
Bad kitty! So are you going to just leave the cabinet unscrewed now? Cuz yo know she's gonna jump back there all the time now. Little holigan
Wow, that is some cat! She really deserves her name.
*still laughing as I type this* That was too funny! OMG, she's precious and such a character. Man, oh man, she's going to be a constant source of blog fodder. Hehe. Loved the pictures that you posted along with the story.
What an adorable story, and what a naughty kitty! Mine were never that bad, but one liked to hide on me, in normal places like under the bed, in the closet, etc. And of course, he was terrible about coming when I called.
You might want to consider putting something up there to block her from getting behind the cd shelves again, lol.
See, this is why I don't have cats! lol
That little stinker! I hope you covered the hole somehow cause she will undoubtedly get back there again.
I think my daughter is related to your kitty...
But such a cutie!!
That is really really funny...and the way you told the story was brilliant...I felt like I was right there with you...Glad to see you back in the swing of things...
Oh and I have had one of those giraffe purses since last spring...I thought I was original back then and then I saw them everywhere as well...But I still love it...and still use it...However, I have never seen the backpack one...very cute...
...like all my ellipsis'?
Oh Kat!!! I am laughing out loud---HARD on this post :) That hooligan kitty! TOOOOO funny :) I'm glad you can laugh about it! Our little Mac got locked in our pantry a couple of weeks ago and we could hear him barking but couldn't tell where it was coming from it was so muffled. Gotta love 'em!!!
That is tooo funny. I think I would have left her there until she figured a way out...LOL to teach her a lesson at least...LOL
That is the cutest kitty EVER!
Wow... hooligan kitty is SO LUCKY that you love her!!! I think she needs her own blog. Adventures of hooligan kitty.
Good thing she's cute, huh?
Totally off the subjecto of Hooligan Kitty...but have you ever Read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice? Just wondering is all!
cats always control us.

Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary...
Day 983 of my captivity...
My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.
Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.
The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.
Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am. Bastards.
There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.
Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.
I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.
The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now ..
What an ordeal for such a little kitty and you!!
Ahhh, gotta love the cats. They sound like my little buddies. Except mine are boys. And orange. And they MEOW when they're trapped somewhere. Like behind our entertainment center because you can jump down but can't jump back up. Hmmm. Conspiracy? Fortunately, I just had to move a speaker so he could get out!
What a cute story. I just love cats!
They say dogs have owners and cats have staff.
The things we do for our pets!
Our cat is the same way, you know if you don't see her, something is up. One time she was shut in the linen closet for 16 hours :( :( :(
Oh--how I have missed your blog...and your less sensational adventures :)!
Glad kitty came out alright! That's quite the catitude she's sporting there!
Holy Hooligan!
And how long did it take you to put the house back together!? LOL
Hi Kat! I hope everything and everyone is doing well. I left a little something for you on my blog. :)
Take care!
So now what? Do you move the bookcases? Leave an opening so she can get back out, 'cause you KNOW she's gonna do it again?
Really, I'm curious.
We leave today for Disney. In less than 8 hours. Why am I blogging? It's called procrastination...
Hello! It's been a while! Hooigan kitty and my Thing 2 must have exchanged notes. My big desk covers two walls and where the monitor is the desk angles across the corner of the room. Leaving a space for Thing 2 to jump into (yes jump, not fall!) The whole big oak desk is screwed together, so I climb up onto the desk, shove my arm down the space and attempt to scruff a cat, all while someone has to be on the floor attempting to push her up to me.
I SO feel you on that one!
Feisty
BAHAHAHAHAHAHA And she's not one bit sorry. Nope. You can just tell:) What a funny kitty!
What a little scamp!!!!!
Just catching back up with everyone. I'm so glad that Michael is doing better. I've been thinking about the four of you and including you all in my prayers.
Hugs :-)
At least she ate no sponge while back there!!!
Love, love, love those bookshelves!!! Even if the content is all over the floor! :) Going to Ikea on Friday...uh, oh!!
Miss you, girl! Hope everything is progressing as you need for it to!
Ok, it's been a week now. Are things ok? I'm needing a Kat post! (wait, not a kitty post, but a post from you...although I'd love a kitty post too.)
HI I came over to stalk your blog and give your BLOG some LOVE! HOPE all is going well UP in your part of GA...DID YOU GET SNOW?
Take CaRE!!!
btw I finished the smutica....HMMM is all I can say....very different!
Wow, such a lovely cat and such a nice way of writing, so funny too. Just stumbled upon your blog and leave you some regards from Tampa
Oh, my goodnes! I thought MY cat was a trouble-maker but this has mine beat. I did once find my cat when I opened up the lazy susan pantry to get some dinner ingredients. There she spun....
It is a NICE 71 degree in the SOUTH and I should be outside being eaten alive by the Gnats here but I wanted to stalk over and send you some greetings! Hope you are hanging in there!!!!
How funny! that souns a little like my cat. She sneaks into rooms behind you, then you shut the door and she scratches at it...of course after you have sat down and are comfy. She is tricky. I have to say though, unbolting the shelves, that takes the cake! Wow!
