A closer look

Well, yesterday I showed you the big picture of all the planting that Michael did on his "braincation." And today, I thought I would show you all the flowers that I picked out. While Michael did all that hard work in the front yard, I put a few geraniums in a planter on our deck.Should I mention that I started with impatients? But they did not last too long with all of our rain. And then that freak snow over our Spring Break in April. Between the weather and my inability to nurture plants, they are all doomed.

I also got my first tomato plant.I've never had a garden. I want one. But, maybe, I just like the idea of a garden. After all the angst that this tomato plant has caused me. I am not sure how well it would do. Then you do have to take into consideration that we live on a really wooded lot...and I have no area that gets full sun. But my tomato plant. Well. The tomatoes keep dropping off. And I have a trail of ants. Who have climbed up to the second story to make their home in the dirt of that plant. I am thwarted at every turn.

My favorite plant on the deck is my minature petunias in a cup. It's a really big cup. We got these for the end of year teacher gifts. I figured that I am a teacher. And I would celebrate myself.

So...what about you? Do you like to garden? Do you prefer vegetables or flowers? Do you speak plant? (Don't forget to enter to win the autographed Paula Deen cookbook!)

OOOOOO Such pretty flower shots!!

I saw some giant teacups at Wally-world and was tempted to buy one, but instead I bought a new camera. haha LOVE IT!! And yes, you deserve it!

I'm not a flower person. I love them, but I'd rather plant stuff to eat. Practicality wins out over beauty for me.

those are some beautiful flowers. I so wish that I had flowers around my house. we have no landscaping out there and no plans to have it until the kids are older.

Oh how I love digging in the dirt. I've not been too thrilled with all the branch and weed whacking and pulling that's been occurring (by moi, of course). But I LOVE gardening. Just got more plants in the mail today. We're doing raspberries and blueberries, tomatoes, several peppers, herbs, and we're even taking a stab at watermelons this year. Not holding my breath on those. I have perennials all over the place. I love stuff that keeps coming back. I'll post some recent pix soon.

And I am quite impressed by your cup plant. Cute.

Beautiful!

I love both veggies and flowers. I'm currently researching "natural" pest control for veggie gardens, like planting marigolds to keep bugs away.

Wow, two days in a row here! And I love that cup. Thats a really cool planter.

I try to garden but ummm, I need to fix my soil and weed. And then plant stuff. And then remember to weed and water. And feed. I love the idea of a garden though. And I'm working on it.

LOVE that purple clematis.
I grow weeds. And then I mow them. That's about all I can manage with 5 kids!

Wonderful photos and I love that giant coffee cup. I used to garden, at my old house and I loved plants and flowers. My favorite was a dappled willow tree and my rose of sharon tree/bush. I don't have anything at this house. Not even a planter. Pathetic and Sad.

Too bad he got to work on the 'honey-do' list under such dramatic circumstances...but I love the term braincation!!

gorgeous flowers, too!

I don't speak plant.

I do like flowers... but I don't like planting them. And taking care of them. I just end up killing them, anyway.

I do have a potted orchid on my mantle... so far, I've managed to keep it alive.

Gorgeous colors! I love to garden ... I'm more of a veggie and herb gardener. I think I need to hire someone to come and re-do our front yard and plant something colorful. It's pretty drab and it's too hot here now for me to even want to do it.

Love that big ol' cup and saucer ... where did you find that?

I have a black thumb and am unable to grow anything. People ask why we don't have children: We can't keep plants alive people!! Plants! :p

I looooooooove that last coffee mug, and I don't even drink coffee! I've seen them at Walmart, but never knew they could be so cute! So...can I be one of your teachers?
I'm not very good at gardening. I like to plant it all, but hate having to water it each day. So I make the hubs do all that. He's way into his tomato plants, and I do like to do herbs.

Ooohhhh...pretty!I LOVE that big cup. What a great idea for teachers. I just might have to get myself one too. I'm just getting ready to plant my pots on my front porch with geraniams. I need nice and hearty plants, cuz they get neglected often. We also do a veggie garden, but hardly get anything from it. I'm think of just doing flowers and pumpkins this year. I need to hurry and decide, it's time to plant here.

(I love the big cup...I saw one like it at Wal-Mart the other day and thought I needed it...then I remembered I needed 10,000 pieces of new furniture and opted to wait :) Here's to a Super Summer!!!!!

My thumb is only a little green...maybe just the tip. I plant flowers every year and they do okay, but I haven't made the leap to a garden. I had one tomato plant last year that died a sad death in my uncapable hands.

I only can dream about beautiful flowers growing in my yard anymore.......

I LOVE that huge cup. Please tell me that you bought it at the AC store in Kotzebue and I will march myself right down there to buy my own.

I am ordering the topsy turvy tomatoe plants to hang outside on my deck to absorb all the daylight! I hope they work........but first we must get above freezing temps. Today it's 30 and snowing.
