I had to take the devil kitties to the vet this week for their first check up. Our reputation preceeded us. The receptionist at the vet knew exactly who I was making an appointment for. Along with their medical history. We might have been responsible for her last raise.
I got to meet another blogger for the first time last week. Kelly from Song for Whoever was in town on her momcation. And we had a fabulous afternoon together. Filled with yummies from Red Robin. Sonic Happy Hour. And a visit to Barnes and Noble. I love when I can suggest books to people. And Kelly bought four books that I suggested. Including "The Time Traveler's Wife." I love that book. And I can't wait to see the movie version next month.
My birthday was Saturday. And even though her life is a little on edge right now, Lizzy came for the weekend. I did leave her at home to bake my cake while Katie and I went to see Harry Potter. I keep hearing people say that they left things out. Or put things in that weren't in the book. But...it's been so long since I read the book...none of that stood out for me. But I will say that there were a lot of funny parts to it.
One of my favorite parts about going to the movies. Besides a bucket of popcorn bigger than me. Is the previews. When we saw "The Hangover" I was rather disappointed in the previews. They were mostly horror type movies. Like "Orphan." (And can you believe that people are protesting this movie? Do you think that people would base their decision to adopt or not on this movie?) But Harry yielded some very cool previews. Like for "Percy Jackson and the Olympians." Oh...February seems a long way away. And then. We saw the preview for "Sherlock Holmes." Oh my. I know how I am going to spend my Christmas day.
Speaking of movies. We got "Transformers" from netflix and watched it last night. It was much better than I thought it would be. And that entire scene with the robots trying to hide on the lawn was hysterical. So. Who has seen the sequel? Is it worth paying theatre prices to see?
So...what about you? Met any bloggers recently? Seen any good previews? Anticipating any movies?

we saw none of the same previews at HP. interesting... glad you had a good weekend!
I haven't met any bloggers. Yet. :) And we rarely go to the movies...so no previews to speak of either.
Your cake looks YUMMY!
Happy (belated) Birthday!
Hey, my HP previews didn't include Percy Jackson! I had no idea that was being made into a movie. I just started reading the 1st book 2 days ago. Really cute. Have you seen The Proposal yet? Loved that one. And I can't WAIT for Time Travelers Wife. I wonder how it'll pull off? I thought HP was great, but I love all Harry Potters. Haven't seen Transformers 2, but I have heard it's not as good as the first.
I am glad Lizzy came over!! It sounds like a great way to spend your birthday:-)
Ok, you have to clear up something for me. Did I send you a bday card? Because on Saturday, I swore that I didn't and bought the funniest belated bday card that I was going to mail today. And then I couldn't find the card that I thought I didn't send. (are you still with me?) Help me & my obviously feeble mind please!
That aside, glad you enjoyed HP! Shannon & I saw it Saturday as well and I enjoyed it. Shannon liked it but started rattling off tons of differences between the book and movie. Interesting.
I too saw the SH trailer and can't wait to see it! I've got Transformers in my Netflix queue. I keep hearing the 2nd one is best viewed on rental. I am counting down the days to The Ugly Truth which opens Friday. Yay!!
Haven't met any new bloggers lately, but am really looking forward to a cabin full of them in November!
Yummy looking cake!
And no to the Bloggers BUT Thursday I start the BlogHer marathon, so uummmm I think I will then ;)
And movies? Oh you make me laugh. I haven't seen a movie in almost a year now. *sigh*
Loved the Transformers, the boys in the house now are looking forward to GI Joe. Me, not so much.
I have actually never met a fellow blogger. Would love to, but I don't know if any coming to the area any time soon. AH well.
We did go see HP this past weekend. I enjoyed it. Haven't read the books yet, so nothing to compare it to. I think I prefer seeing the movie prior to reading the book, if at all possible, because then I don't know what is left out, compare to, or know in advance what will happen. :)
I read about your fun meeting with Kelly over at her blog, sounds like a great day! I haven't met any other bloggers yet, but that is about to change, not to mention a little outing in November that I am crazy excited about!
I loved The Time travellers wife - great book.
On the extremely rare occasion that we actually go into a movie theater, I generally catch myself saying (during the previews), "Oh, I will wait for cable." Or "I won't even watch that on cable."
I thought I recognized Miss Kelly!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY (late) I hope it was a great day.
We saw HP on Sunday and were only two of the four people in the theater. Can't beat a Sunday at 8:45 pm :)
I did like the movie though I usually need to see them several times to get it all absorbed. I can't wait to see where they split number seven since it'll be two movies. And I also want to snatch up both 6 & 7 and reread them for the millionth time :)
Awww... I am so jealous you & Kell got time together... (isn't she great?) Happy belated b- day. Sounds like you are one busy lady.
-in regards to your ?- Tropical Island is HUGE. High enough to fit the statue of liberty & long enough for the eiffel tower lying down. We were so early in the season that is wasn't crowded... & another cool thing... it is opened 24 hours a day!
Oh, we can't wait for the Percy Jackson movie! Cody got to meet Rick Riordan (the author) last year.
And nope, haven't had the chance to meet any bloggy friends yet. Probably has something to do with the annoying fact that most of them live on the east coast ;)
Well, I am glad to see you didn't post the hip shots :)
I had a great time also; thanks again for being a great hostess!!
The girls and I saw Harry Potter over the weekend....it's been awhile since I read the book also, they did leave out some details, but nothing that detracted from the storyline. I agree; I laughed a lot more with this installment.
I will await the sequel of transformers until it's rentable (is that even a word?) Not worth the $$ in my opinion....
Movies I saw in previews that I can't wait to see: New Moon. No way in hell am I going to see 2012 - end of the world movies are just not my thing!!!
BTW...do I get a prize for longest comment evah?!!!
Paul and I just went to see the Transformers sequel for our date night and I loved it. I thought it was better than the first, but he thought it was just okay. I liked it because there was a little more to the love story than the first one and lots more robots. I really liked the special effects.
Met my first bloggy friend earlier this summer! Carrie from Oikology 101. SO fun! Will be meeting MANY more in October. Whoo-hoo!!
I wasn't very excited to see the first Transformers BUT it was always on cable, my toddler loves it and would watch parts each time. So when #2 came out, I had to see it. Loved it!
I'm all about a good preview. The only one that stood out was Orphan. LOL I couldn't believe when I heard about the protests. Seriously?!
Yeah, that scene in the first Transformers with them trying to hide on the lawn nearly made me wet my pants in laughter! Haven't seen any previews lately so I'm not sure what I'm looking forward to yet. Maybe this weekend. I'm hoping hubby decides to take me out for a diversion this coming weekend, I suspect I'm gonna be a mess by the following Monday.
Happy belated birthday!
I, too, was disturbed by the previews during "The Hangover". Seriously, if I'm seeing a comedy, I want to see comedy previews.
