Last week, Katie and I were sitting at the kitchen table (err...my desk!) doing math work...when she looked out the window and saw a hawk in a tree. Hawks can be real distractions to school work. But hawks are lovely to have in one's backyard...as are owls. We love our birds of prey because we do not have squirrels. Oh...there are squirrels in our neighborhood...but not in my backyard!.jpg)

When you said looking oh so regal... my mind flashed back to the Muppet Show! Do you remember the big blue eagle?? He used to say that in a very stuffy voice...
and then...lol when you wrote the hawk looked like a chicken.... I thought about foghorn leghorn! In the cartoons... a little chicken hawk would try to get the chickens... and .. well, he was a chicken hawk see.... ( mobster voice) *Ü*
Can you tell I grew up in the 70s??? I watched way to much tv! lol

I'm amazed by your TREES. I want to live in a place with real trees, not shrubs. Here in SoCal, the Los Angeles National Forest is a forest of bushes. I'm not kidding. LOL. Love your pictures and the hawk!
We had the same experience on Sunday, except our guy was sitting on a wire (we have no majestic trees in our yard). Unfortunately, by the time I got the camera he was gone. You got some great shots!

We've got red-tailed hawks in our neighborhood. I just love them.
Totally laughing at Daisy's description of the Angeles forest. She's really NOT kidding. There's a sign and everything announcing that you're entering and again when you're exiting... and there's no visible difference between the forest and the non-forest. it's all just scrub.

the pic at the top of my blog is Stone Mountain. We live south of the "big city" as my kids call Atlanta and had made a day trip to Stone Mountain for their Christmas events. The loved the mountain more than the festivities and we plan to go back . Its not that far of a drive...maybe an hour.. My husband and I both grew up going to the mountain. One of the most fascinating things that we saw on Friday's walk, was an owl. It sat up high in the tree and regarded us.
And I'd left my darn camera at home!!!
