What's in your Drawer?

Normally I don't put away the girls' laundry. That is their job. But the other day I needed to get a bathingsuit for Madalyn. And when I opened her drawer. The drawer that is supposed to contain bathing suits and panties. Guess what I found?Do you know what that is?It's not a Ken doll. It's a Christmas present Madalyn got last year. One she asked for. Sort of. She put Justin Timberlake on her Christmas list. My 6 year old asked for JT for Christmas. I am sure that you are saying to yourself, "ummm...that's not Justin Timberlake." But it is. Apparently N'sync had dolls (or are they action figures?) made. They were more like marionettes. But Madalyn cut off his strings. So she could carry him around. Or store with her undies.

So, what about you? When did you start noticing the opposite sex? What about your kids? Who did you have a crush on? Did you have a doll of him and store it with your panties?

Well, I realized the opposite sex when I was 7 and saw the Tom Cruise love scene in Top Gun. YUM!
Still gets to me all these years later!

6?!! Oh gosh...both my girls were late bloomers. For my oldest, it wasn't cool to have a boyfriend until middle school and it wasn't cool to kiss your boyfriend until high school. My youngest prefers to play with boys over girls but she's 4...I hope that doesn't mean that she is boy-crazy:-(

My daughter claims she already has a boyfriend. For like a year.

As for me, I had a Bo Duke doll.

Yes, I was a Dukes of Hazzard fan. Big time. And Bo was mine, all mine.

Justin Timberlake in the panty drawer, huh? Goodness, that's a new one! A marionette?! hehe

No girl stuff in my boys' drawers. or rooms. At all. YET.

I had flowery wallpaper when I was younger, and I used to write the names of the boys I liked hidden in the vines of that wallpaper. You couldn't see it unless you knew what you were looking for.

Your girls make me smile. Often.

My first crush was Bo Duke...I wanted to kiss him in the General Lee. Sigh...

Libbey could care less about boys. THANK GOD! But she does say Keith Urban is her boyfriend. Like mother, like daughter.

I have 4 crushes, 3 of whom are long timers, the other is a newbie. And a youngster...I'm a cradle robber. As of this weekend they are prominently displayed on my blog. I know they'd thank me with a big hug and a juicy smack on the lips if they could.

And they're not in the panty drawer, but just below them...I have more than just the Edward t-shirt to prove my fangirl status. Lacey and I have "I Heart Sawyer" baseball shirts, and I also have a Spike one with a very famous quote from Season 5 of Buffy..."Is everyone here very stoned?" Huh-larious, especially when the context of said quote is understood.

See? F-R-E-A-K. That's me.

OMG, I am laughing so hard. And if I had a JT doll, I would so store him in my panty drawer too. Just sayin.

That doll looks nothing like JT!!! I love the discovery though...I laughed out loud when I saw it. I don't remember when I first started noticing boys. I know that Jessie Hendrix gave me a napkin full of chocolates in first grade as a present and told me he liked me. Yes at six! He was the cutest boy in the hood at the time. I was smitten....but shy. After that I don't think I noticed any boys until fifth or sixth. I loved Donny Osmond in middle school...I don't think they had dolls of him back in the day. My daughter thinks boys are silly and annoying right now. I keep telling her "That's right, they are" :) She doesn't even think the Jonas Brothers are cute....Whew...glad I don't have to deal with all that stuff yet. Although I know it's coming...sooner than I want.

If that's all you find in your kids' drawers, then count yourself lucky. :) Seriously, sometimes I'm scared to open my kids drawers. EVERYTHING including the kitchen sink goes in them.

Too funny! I'm not sure when I started noticing the opposite sex...I grew up with 3 older sisters...so probably sooner than most?? My kiddoes on the other hand...well, let's back up...CONNOR knows NOTHING about girls. I'm very modest around the house...he rarely sees me even go to the bathroom. The other day...I wanted to find out where he stood on this issue...so my sister-in-law and I played a little game asking him if he could name some differences...he just sat there after we named a few and said, "um...they sometimes have pretty blue eyes????" And that was that and he went off to play pirates with Jake. I think we do need to have a small little talk...soon...I don't want him to feel embarrassed or ashamed...or worse than that...learn the wrong things while at school---YOUCH! I don't think I ever stored any of my Ken dolls in my panty drawer :) I used to love Shawn Cassidy...he was one of the first albums I ever bought!

I laughed before I even read the post. Seeing Justin swimming in the pantie drawer had me smiling. Then the puppet! I just heard the song playing," Bye bye bye..." as Justin sinks into the monster pantie/swim suit- like quick sand. These pics...classic!

Ha, I guess I'm the odd ball. I like Luke Duke better. No dolls in any drawer. Can't remember at what age though.

OMG, how sad is it that I knew who the doll was, right from the start?

I think my first real crush was Joey McIntyre... from New Kids on the Block (do you think I had a thing for boy bands???) ...I think that was around 7th or 8th grade? Posters, buttons, cassettes, a NKOTB pillow... yes. But I never had the Joey doll! LOL

My girls haven't really talked about boys yet... although the 5 year old does think Troy (from High School Musical) is cute.

That is so funny. It does not look like him, at all. But I do remember that marionette thing/stage. And I love that photo of JT. YuM.

That's just toooo funny, Justin Timberlake in your daughter's panty drawer. :-)

I remember being all starry eyed over Cliff Richard in the early 60's and a young Sean Connery. They featured in my dreams many a night. They had a sword fight over my hand once ... I remember that dream quite well.

My daughter was a bit of a tom boy and I don't remember her having 'crushes'. Plus she went to am all girl's school. I think that around 13 or 14 she was rather keen on the 'Backstreet Boys'....

Hmm... would it surprise you to know that I had a boyfriend in kindergarten, and we got in trouble for holding hands at school? Or that my first grade boyfriend and I used to play "spin the scissors" in my playhouse after school? (Scissors have many more points than bottles.)

Can't blame her for wanting JT for Christmas though, now can you? ;o)

Oh that's funny! I can't remember when I became boy crazy... it seems I always have been!

I'm so thankful we have a few years before our girls get there!

My first had to be Duran Duran when I was about 9 or 10. Then later on New Kids on The Block. I was a Donnie Wahlberg fan. I had so many posters on the walls I could not see the walls. I didn't have the doll. If I did I would have put him in my panty drawer.

My daughter who is 7 loves Nat for The Naked Brothers Band. She will want a doll if they ever make one.

I totally have a crush on JT. I'm cracking up that he was in the panty drawer!!

Now that my older boys are in middle school and highschool I've been preparing myself for the "I like girls" thing. Sam, who started high school this week, has admitted to liking a girl in his class (or last year he did), but Chris is way more fun to tease. He downright turns bright red when ever we start talking about girls. It's very cute.

Trish said...

Hellllloooooo, where else would YOU keep JT??
He totally could live in my undies drawer.

I always played with boys more than girls, then I started beating boys up in the fourth and fifth grade. That kind of ruined the dating options for me for a while. No one wanted to "go out" with a girl that just a few years earlier had whooped their butts on the way to the bus stop.

My son, has more friends that are girls than boys, but they are starting to want nothing to do with him and it is soooo confusing to him. That's okay, those little vixens need to stay far far away from my adorable little boy!

Ok, so I had NO crushes. And then I met Sebastian. Not the undie drawer- just the undies! Shame on me for typing that out loud!

Oh that made me laugh! My one year old has a boy Barbie, who happens to be a New Kids On The Block member .. I don't remember his name because I was too young to know they were a band. I just used him as a Ken doll, cut off his rat-tail and pulled out his earring. Anyway, my daughter loves him and pitches a fit if I put a stich of clothing on him. She's a creepy little one sometimes.

I was about ten years old, and my heart throbbed for Hanson. Taylor when I was younger, Zach when we both got older and he got buff. Still does, actually. But they are a second place throb, next to my hubs :o)

I was in love with Donny Osmond when I was in the 4th grade until I was about 13. Personally, I would love to find a Johnny Depp doll in my underwear drawer.

Oh, it's scary. My little Diva (now 6) would stand and watch the HS boys' swim team getting out of the water at age 2. She would be wide eyed and tell me "momma, boyyyzzzzz".

I'm with Shannon...I knew who the doll was right away...NSYNC was popular when I was way too hold to be interested...
My first crush was when I was 12. I crushed on the boy we carpooled with the CCD classes!

The first crush I remember having was on Dusty---a cartoon character from GI Joe. Weird, right?!

I am loving your Rhapsody in Blue! This piece always makes me smile!

JT is probably really happy in the underwear drawer.

That's too funny! Hmm, maybe I should check Cody's undies for a Barbie ;D Now that he's 13 the hormones are raging like never before!

My first crushes were on Cary Grant and Steve McQueen (I watched LOTS of old movies as a child ;) By 4th grade, I had pictures of Mel Gibson and Pierce Brosnan taped on the lift-up lid of my school desk. All my friends that I was nuts because they were "soooo old!" I still like older men ;D

I think my first crush was Shawn Cassidy from the Hardy Boys when I was 5. I even had a poster.

My first real "OMG is he hot!" guy was Simon LeBon of Duran Duran when I was in 5th grade. I've been boy crazy ever since. Hey, that sounds like a fun T13 post- celebrity crushes throughout the years.. I have way more than 13.
