Time to celebrate

We had a big accomplishment at our house a few weeks ago. Madalyn got straight As for the first time. I was so proud. To reward her efforts, I told her we would take her out to dinner to celebrate and she could choose the restaurant.

My notion of a reward and her notion of a reward are not in the same league. Evidently. To an eight year old. Dinner out with the family is on par with punishment. Or chores. Or a visit to the dentist. However. Madalyn agreed to this outing if she got to bring a friend. You know. So she could have someone to talk to. So. Last Sunday we headed out as a family. Plus Madalyn's friend Shannon. For the big, celebratory meal. And where did we go? When the sky was the limit? Her choice was...

Yep. Golden Corral. Where she dined on such delicacies as popcorn shrimp. Rolls. A single bite of baked potato. Mashed potatoes. And dessert. Which was best served on a plate and eaten as soup.So...what about you? Do you like Golden Corral? Where would you want to celebrate getting straight As? Where would your kids choose to go?

Golden Corral? For real? Walking into that place gives me the shivers. She could've at least gone for the fine cuisine of Olive Garden. The place my bf's sister chose for her b-day. Endless salad, yo.

My kids LOVE Golden Corral. In fact, whenever we travel we have to hit it (or its likeness) at least once. It's the only place with something to satisfy everyone w/o arguement. (Well, everyone except the parents. I always leave there feeling a little germy and exhuasted from all the trips to the food bars.)

I am so laughing at this post..It was great!

OK I personally HATE (with a big H) Golden Corral.

HMM IF MY child got straight A or heck if he could manage not to hate school for one day and get a happy face for once and NOT GET HIS SNACK taken away everyday for not finishing his morning work...I would TAKE HIM ANYWHERE in the Savannah AREA he wanted to go!

My Child would however choose to go to Outback or Olive Garden...those are his favorites and well I am not sure he would choose GOLDEN CORAL because HE HAS NOT EATEN there because of ME! But I bet he might well enjoy it if he KNEW ABOUT THAT LITTLE PLACE! I plan to keep it a secret for a while longer ...just like Disney and Six Flags...MY BAD! LOL

As a kid, I LOVED Golden Corral. As an adult, it majorly skeeves me out. Not a big fan of buffets, but for kids, they're great. They can eat anything they want. And if they don't like it, they can just get something else.

Congrats to Madalyn on the straight A's! Looks like smarts run in the family! :)

I actually go to Golden Corral a lot. There's not much else in Palatka.
Both of my school aged kids got straight A's, too! I was just getting ready to do a post on that as well!
Congratulation to Madalyn!!! Good work!

Yay for Madalyn! Yay for you! That is a huge accomplishment!

Hysterical that she chose the trough, I mean, the Corral. (That's what we call it around here :)

My kids always choose Outback, which is a-okay with me. I'd probably choose the same place...we love it there!

My kids and I absolutely LOVE the Golden Corral. Too bad the nearest one is over an hour and half away from us. Yeah, they make the best, the BEST bourbon street chicken evah, and their ranch dressing is so awesome. I ate so much of it when I was preggers with all three of my kids. I can even now get my taste buds revved up for their ranch dressing.
Congratulations to Madalyn on her awesomeness as a student.
I believe given my choice of a place to celebrate, I would have to choose the Olive Garden. Their Chicken Gnocchi soup is very, very good. Plus the breadsticks are passable.

Yeah, mine love the Corral too. sigh. Me? ick. If I got to choose, it would probably be The Melting Pot. :) Or something in that league, at least. Congrats to Madalyn!

We used to have a GC on our side of town... but it has since closed. There is another location but it's across the river. Like you wanted to know all that, but to answer your question... no, we don't go GC. Because if we make the trek across the river, I'm eating somewhere like Carrabba's. Or P.F. Chang's.

Yay for Madalyn!

Yeah Madalyn!! We don't have a Golden Corral so I have never been. My 6 yr old always picks Chucky Cheese-YUCK! But we compromise and go to Red Robin.
I'm off to check out your new blog:) At least they have a claw machine haha.

Madalyn and her friend could be sisters - they look so much alike. Congrats on the straight As - what an accomplishment. Can't say that Golden Corral is a fav, but totally understand why a kid would choose it...all you can eat/pick out your own food/multiple trips, etc, etc....my kids always want to go to Sweet Tomatoes for the same reasons!

My nephews pick GC every. time. And I totally hate that place. It skeeves me out that so many people are touching the tongs and stuff. Ewww.

Congrats on having a smart kid! {Mine had all A's and one B. In physics.}
