Random bits and pieces

Well, all that angst last week about the right shade of beige has paid off. It turns out that "parchment" was a pretty good match for our siding. Not Little Linda. This is the before: With the drab green shutters. The horrid brown trim. And the sassy red door.

It all just seemed to meld into the house. So...on the spur of the moment (meaning, I found out Monday that he was coming on Tuesday - and had to make a quick paint color decision!)...we had a painter out to fix it all. And make the whole thing sassy. Our painter had fun with the kitties as they tried to help him paint. And now...the big reveal! What a difference. The black and cream just makes everything come alive. And that red door is still in place. The transition of the landscaping is pretty impressive, too! Of course the first one was taken in winter. I wish I had pictures of the house right after we moved in. With the...uhhhh...interesting landscape choices the previous home owners had made.Last week both girls were at sleep away camp. And what did I do with my time? I got a pedicure. Did you notice that I blogged four days in a row? I read several book. And Michael won yet another prize. This time a cell phone. Isn't it pretty? And do you know what this means? It means that for the very first time. In my entire life. I sent a text message. I sent several. For no reason. And now that I have this phone. Katie thinks that she needs one.

Anyway...this is how I sent my children off to camp:

And this is how they were returned to me. Stanky. Unshowered. Sinus infected. And with crispy hair. (Ummm...when did my daughter get so tall?)

Last Friday, my friend Kim came over to watch "Twilight." She has read the books, but not seen the movie. Yeah...it wasn't good the second time around either. But. Still. Even after we dissed the movie. We were still on you-tube looking at the "New Moon" trailer. And feeling like dirty old women as we checked out Jacob and company.

The whole reason I set up this blog...was to write about our homeschooling experience. I was pretty good about doing that the first year. And then this year. Well. It was my intention to at least do a weekly review post. So. Be warned. A homeschool post is forthcoming. Sometime. Eventually.

I have read a million and one several blog posts about the time suck that is facebook. I have been there for a while. But only recently has it become a time suck. And it's all Lizzy's fault. Because now. I am addicted to the game "Farm Town."

Now that Michael can drive. We got him a new car. After going over 250K with the old one...it was time. And now for the first time. His car has less miles than mine. And I have new car envy.

So...what about you? What random things are going on in your life?

The house looks fantastic with the new paint! The black and white on the brick make a HUGE difference!

My time suck on FB: Bejeweled. I spend WAY too much time playing that stupid game. Embarrassing.

House looks amazing. Love the new phone. Girls um... yeah I don't know what to say, but their still pretty as ever. I too now have new car envy. Love FB and Farm Town.

I have no new random things going on, just the same old stuff. But I love reading all about your randomness.

Love the black and cream! It looks great!

We have VBS this week. So, lots of random I guess.

I LOVE the house! What a difference paint makes! (And the landscaping looks awesome, too.)

You're lucky your kids will go to camp. Mine refuse. As did I, when I was their age. Can't blame them.

I'm re-reading Outlander, so I can be all ready for the new book this fall. Falling in love with Jamie Fraser all over again. *sigh*

The new house colors look awesome. What a difference. I am really diggin' the red door.

Look at those precious little faces going off to camp. Too adorable. Mine would never go, but I am glad because I can't stand a quiet house.

The house looks great. LOVE the new cell phone! I'm a texting addict and i will only use phones with querty keyboards that make it easier. :) don't worry, you too will soon be addicted! :)

Oooooo....the house looks GREAT! And yes, your red door is perfect with your brick. My brick is a little more red...but still I wonder if I could pull it off. Hmmmm... And I now have new car envy from Michael. Oh how I wish my car still smelled new, instead of like leftover McD's and peed on seats. (How's that for a mental image? LOL!)

Oh, and I'm a newish texter too. I've only sent a handful in my life. It takes me 19 years just to type 2 sentences. But it's fun, and even more fun to get them.

Love the house re-do. We have vinyl siding/trim, but I was just this morning thinking about painting the shutters (currently a grayish purple) black. But I don't know how to get them off the house. And I'm far too messy and short to paint them as they hang there.
Have never sent a text. Have received 2 in my whole life.
Don't facebook either.
I would like a week of camp please.

Oooh, the paint job is mahvelous. Nice car, Michael.

Random - I had cream of chicken soup for lunch, I picked up some photos from Wolf (.06 3x5 day), and I got two books from the library. Random.

So glad you kept that sassy red door!

The "totem pole" picture is just too adorable for words. :)

I was on Facebook for a good month or two thinking "what's the big deal??? How do people spend hours a day on this?" And then I got a lot of friends, and then I started harrassing, I mean commenting on their statuses and making statuses of my own. Then I was reading everyone's comments. The next thing I knew, my blog was sadly neglected.

I am so excited that you are going to Vegas too!
Awesome that you can text it is fun, right?
I love pictures of your girls and the kitty!
My kids are sick too. As we speak (or write) Jeff is cleaning up vomit from the car. Awesome.

The house looks AWESOME!!!

Speaking of that, I think I'm going to have the railings taken off the porch of the new house and not replace them, rather get more substantial columns. What do you think?

I can ONLY IMAGINE the kitties with the painter guy on the other side of the window. :)

Oh and I SO plead the 5th on that whole farm town thing....

I cannot believe I missed your Little Linda beige post. So glad you didn't pick that horrid color! LOL Love your choices. We have a stucco exterior. We painted the trim first and had the stucco retextured after that. That's what they told us to do. We had cappuccino for the trim and whipped cream for the stucco. Except the day that the stucco guy comes we decided on the spur of the moment to go with Dutch cream instead of whipped cream. Bad idea. It just doesn't work with the cappuccino and now we have to re-do the trim. Dang it.

Anyhow ... my life is so random right now ... I haven't blogged in ages ... I just lost the blogging umph, kwim?

Looks like your girls had a fabulous time at camp!

And btw, Tuolumne is pronounced Too all o' me ... I know this because when I was in camp in the 6th grade all of the cabins had names like Yosemite, Sierra, Mariposa ... and of course Tuolumne, where I stayed.

And the new car? Very cool that Michael is driving again... must be great for you too!

Hooray for sleep away camp - or regular camp for that matter too. My girls go next week - and we're ALL looking forward to it. :)

Love the new look on the house. And yeah, I'm so glad one of my "friends" on facebook sent me an invite to join FarmTown. What was I thinking?
I spend more time harvesting and planting corn than I ever imagined possible. It's fun though, huh?

*Love* the new paint job! It looks fantastic. For me, the Facebook timesuck is taking the quizzes. So far I've learned hugely important things like: Which Greek goddess I am. Which Firefly character I am. How well (or not so well) I know various friends.

God, I need a life ;D

I love your house. It's so pretty. I am a classic colonial-ish girl.

You know I didn't really dig the movie either but yet I have watched in a ton of times. I think maybe I just need to get out more. (I am excited for New Moon though. If I come to GA will you go with me? lol)

I have so far avoided most of the facebook stuff by never signing on, lol.

Love the sassy red door and the new paint really makes it pop! (I would totally steal that but the neighbors have a red door...)

Woohoo on the texting! And the new cell phone.

I will NOT play Farm Town anytime soon b/c the last thing I need is another distraction.

I assume the girls got a good shower AND a hot oil treatment when they got home, no?! LOL!

Excuse me...I have sent you texts. Of various body parts, that confounded you.

SO WHERE'S MY TEXTS? With your new phone?

The house looks fab. Really--I love it.

And the girls. With their crispy hair.

Oh. My. Gosh. I did NOT expect to see such a drastic difference with the paint. It looks FANTASTIC! You were SO right to do that. Loved the pictures of the cats helping to paint. Too cute. Adorable pictures of the girls too.... and oh my, I didn't see that picture of the guys in Twilight - nice!

I have all sorts of random things going on. I love that phone! I almost bought that exact one but went with the Samsung Propel, instead. I am a huge texter--I even have all my instant messages sent to my phone.
As for the New Moon trailer and pictures..my mother has been drooling for months. ;p
