A Whole Lotta Nothin'

I am sitting at my kitchen table. Laptop open in front of me. And I gaze out the window. Watching the trees blowing in the wind. Those are some really tall trees. And some rather big gusts. More and more leaves come down to be added to the ginormous pile in the yard.

I'd rather sit here and watch the wind than do the things on my list. Like balance my check book. Or re-schedule doctor's appointments. Or add up all the volunteer hours. Which I need to do before the PTA meeting tomorrow.

I am even avoiding blogging. Because I have nothing to say. Nothing to report. No strange tales of kitties disconnecting cords from my TV.

I have no pictures to show. No tales of woe. No tales of wonder. It's just an ordinary day. A day that I continue to procrastinate my chores. Like putting away laundry. Going to the bank. And even Christmas shopping.

Does this count as me time? As I sit here staring mindlessly out the window? It couldn't possibly. Procrastination isn't me time.

I would love to wander around a book store. And pick out books that I want to read. I would love to go to a movie that is not animated. And not share my popcorn. I would like to go shopping. Without a child asking me how much longer.

But. I have my list to procrastinate. And here I sit. I suppose that I could make make a little me time here in my living room. Make myself a turkey sandwich. A hand full of grapes. And finish my book. That list will still be there when I am done.

And now. I want you to have a little "me" time. Tell me what you would do with three hours to yourself. Out of the house. AND with a hundred dollars to spend. On you.

OOOOOhhhhh.. Am I really first?
WOW. I would first, go to my girl, Trudy, and have her give me a full on pedicure..Hot parafin wax, the whole enchilada. And after that, I'd take the 40 dollars that were left and go eat at the Texas Roadhouse. And then I'd take my 10 dollars and go to the thrift shop and see if I could find any "treasures".

Holy cow Batman. I am the top commenter? Wow! OMG. Whoo hoo. Can you tell I am excited. Oh yeah go me it's not my birthday but still... go me.

Ok now 3 hours and a hundred smackaroos. Hmmmm...

I need a haircut so their goes 35 bucks and an hour. A good book would be wonderful so there goes another hour wandering aimlessly through books a million till I find the ONE possibly 2 and drop another 30 dollars. Now that I have a new do and a good book a day of me time would not be complete without a mani/pedi and an eyebrow wax another hour and 30 bucks.

There is my time 3 hours and 95 bucks later. And I go home but not before...

Stopping at Starbucks to get a yummy cup of joe with my last 5 dollars. Oh yes that my friend is a wonderful day of me.

Oh me, oh my .. THREE hours? OUT of the house? 100 dollars?

I'd love to say that I would pamper myself silly .. but honestly, I would drive myself to the bank, deposit said $100 into savings .. then go home and lock myself in my bedroom with my laptop and a snack.

Because I haven't yet learned how to fully appreciate outside the house alone time .. nor am I good at spending money on myself.

Someone needs to teach me .. quickly! =o)

Book shopping and maybe a pedicure. Some chai tea and a walk on the beac

I would probably get a pedicure and then go shopping for the perfect pair of jeans. Alone. Because I don't want whining when it takes so long, nor do I want anyone to see my reject pile.

I have been lazy today too. My tree is up but bare and I have a doctors appt in less than an hour. I haven't even showered yet. ~sigh~

HEY!!! I didn't ONCE ask how much longer!!!!

3 hours... $100 bucks... a massage and a pedicure please....

Bra shopping...all alone...and even try on the bras! Then after I found the perfect wonder bra that held me in, pushed me up, and instantly made me 10 lbs thinner, I'd go to the bookstore and go up and down EVERY isle. Ahhhh....that would be great.

A hundred bucks and three hours... Oh wow, what I wouldn't give for that! I think I would probably go to an antique store and look for a bookshelf or some other shabby piece of furniture, and a Starbucks of course!

Beaading materials ... for SURE.

A Starbucks - since I'm starting a new budget resolve TODAY ...

Then AYCE Crab Legs ... JUST for me ...

Man .. what a nice "calgon moment" to think what I'd spend an afternoon and $100 on!

Three HOURS....HMMM I would go right to Barnes and Nobles first of all. Like so many others. I would probably go check out Books A Million since it is across the Street and Eat at Panera. I would be Thrifty with the 100 dollars and not spend it all on me....I would bring Treats HOME for my Boys and The Hubs would not need a treat if he kept the Boys for Three hours...that would be his foreplay...trust me..SO would someone tell him that is all it takes Three Hours away!

I'd high tail it otta here so fast to go shopping, dust would be flying behind my car.

Easy...head over to the HairCuttery and get Norris to touch up my roots. I'd spring for an extra deep conditioning treatment too...maybe even pay for the extra highlights. It's wonderful me time for sure and it takes him almost 3 hours to get it all done with the hurry and wait each procedure takes!

I need some boob condos, and some finger nails that aren't stumpy and gross. And a huge Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate. That leaves me about an hour and a half to, um, actually, I can't remember what I like to do when I am alone... It's been such a long time.

Loralynn said...

I would go have a foot massage, pedicure and manicure...Ohh how I wish for those things...

I'd certainly go to Barnes and Noble and have myself a Writer's Chai. I wouldn't buy any books, I would just look at lots of pictures and revel in the fact that I don't have to wipe a butt or break up a fight.
Then I'd head over to Belk and pick up 2 pairs of Yellow Box Flip Flops. Of course, my next trip would be to the Sleep Number store where I would take a nap on setting #50.....not too hard, not too soft. I would tell the saleslady I was seriously considering purchasing a bed in the near future, but that I first need to see if I can actually fall asleep on it.
Okay, so Bath and Body would be my next stop and I would buy wallflower refills for every room in my house. Nothing better than a fresh Japanese Cherry blossom in bloom.
Not sure where I am on the time schedule, but I can find a really good excuse if I'm late. Just today a logging truck overturned near my house. My kids were over an hour late getting home from school. Excuses? No problem.

Thanks for asking. I enjoyed my imaginary field trip.

Mani-pedi and browsing the book store with a yummy latte.

Or a movie that I want to see for a change!

This one is easy......I'd run to the mall and blow the whole $100 on new clothes. THen I'd run straight to the library and spend the rest of my time there......wish I could do that now.....:)

Three hours and a hundred bucks, eh? I'd hit the gym for a solid hour. Grab lunch and eat it by myself in the car while listening to talk radio (because usually my kids hate that----"why can't we go in Mom?!?!" :) ), then--I'd go blow all my hundred dollars on a massage because I've never, ever had one and my shoulders hurt.

Ordinary days are good :).

Clothes shopping. $100 probably wouldn't go very far but I could easily kill 3 hours trying crap on.

Or, I'd wander antique shops in a nearby town with the quaintest Main Street. I'd find some retro treasure that I'd just have to have.

But seriously, 3 hours all to myself? I'd like to just be alone in my own house. Where I could turn music up really loud and eat ice cream out of the container. All of it. BY MYSELF! And it wouldn't cost a thing. Except regret the next time I stepped on the scale.

3 Hours at the book store -- EASY. And then I'd still come home with the $100 because I'd be browsing for better deals on the books I want via internet.

Bwah.

That is a hard questin to answer!

A massage.

Lunch and a movie.
Craft store.

Lunch with my friends, my treat.

Go cart racing.

Something fun. Something to make me laugh and make me forget my worries if only for 3 hours.

Wanna join me?

I would shop of course. Pick out a nice new outfit and shoes to match and maybe a nice pair of jammies. Then, if I had any left I would get me some nice smelly body lotion all for me and only me.

Shannon said...

I think we all want to spend our time and 100 bucks the same way...

Since I just got a new 'do last week, I'd first go get a pedicure. And then hit the bookstore for an hour before treating myself to a nice lunch somewhere. Maybe just @ Panera, but someplace that is not fast food.

Carrie said...

I'd go to my therapeutic masseuse for exactly 1.5384615 hours because that's as far as $100 would go.
Then I'd go shower and meet some friends for some drinks and debauchery! YEAH!

And I'd be sure to wear a low-cut top because I'd need to show off the hoots soes I could get me some drinks since I blew all my money getting a massage!

Three house to myself, out of the house, and with $100?

Easy peasy.

I'd walk outside, just to fulfill that obligation. Then head back indoors for a 2 hour, 55 minute nap. Upon waking, I'd click my way to Sephora.com I can spend $100 there in less than 30 seconds. It's my gift. Uh-uh.

A little me time sounds like an awesome idea. I would love some too. I love the idea of just wondering around the book store. I used to do that all the time in my collage day. Ahhh, reading by the fire, sipping coffee, people watching, *sigh*

$100 and three hours?
I'd call my sisters and my mom and tell them I was buying them lunch but they'd have to meet me in Olympia (one and a half hour drive for me, two and a half for them, but heck I'm buying lunch).

Then i'd drive like a bat out of hell to get to Olympia in one hour. We would then linger over our lunch way to long and I would have to use the last five minutes to call my husband and ask him for another 3 hours!

ChicagoLady said...

I don't want to be boring, but I would also head to a book store, looking for just the right book. It might take one hour, it might take three hours.

Whatever money is left, I'd put into my savings account.

Michelle said...

Ooooo, three hours, huh?

I'm off to get a massage AND a mani AND a pedi. And some sushi! Yum!

Aubrey said...

I am SO with Lula on this one! Or...I'd drive down the way to the closet Sephora store and pick the goodies up to take home. Instant gratification!

Not to brag or anything...LOL but, I get about 3 hours a day of pure quiet when I lay my toddler down for his nap and before I have to pick up my daughter from school! I just don't have the $100!!

Unknown said...

Are you kidding? 3 hours and $100? I think I may have to go to my favorite thrift store. I love how far my dollar stretches there! And then I'd take myself out to eat. (and let the family have mac and cheese)

3 hours and $100 and its ALL mine?? Wow...I wouldnt know how to act, lol. Maybe walk around the mall, buy some clothes, see a movie (TWILIGHT!!!) and forget to take a watch so that I can stretch my 3 hours into longer. Oops...I lost track of time.

Susie said...

I think I would do what you described. Shop. See a movie (I haven't done that in forever!).

Yeah I hear you. After the snow day on Monday time for myself kinda got thrown out the window. It's Thursday night and I'm reading everyone's Monday posts. Funny how one single Monday can mess up the whole week not to mention take eveny single "me" second you might have had.
