My favorite things: Bath and Body Works soaps

Raindrops on whiskers…petals on kittens…kettles filled with mittens are just a few of Julie Andrew’s favorite things. Or something like that. Whatever. And then, of course, Oprah has her favorite things. That seem to change each year. Depending on who is willing to give them to her. I suppose if people sent me lots of packages (tied up with string), the contents might be my favorite thing, too.

With no promises from the company to pad my bank account…or even a thank you gift card in the mail…let me tell you about one of my favorite things: Bath and Body works hand soap. Now, I must preface with a disclaimer. I am very sensitive to smells. Perfumes make me ill. I can’t even walk by the entrance to the Yankee Candle store at the mall. So…I never ventured into Bath and Body works. Until I was at a friends house and used this soap:
It’s what started it all. Their soaps smell so good. But they aren’t perfumey. Hey…I made up a new word. They have great, non chemical smells like: vanilla, lime, peach, fig, and this one is my favorites: grapefruit Aren’t they pretty?

Naturally the girls are big fans. And they think that getting soap is a fabulous Christmas gift. Bath and Body Works even makes “seasonal” soaps. We have gotten their “Frosting forever” – makes you smell like a cake – “Iced Tea” – that is one of my favorites – and another favorite is “Chocolate Mint” which I managed to track down a huge supply of after Christmas.

These soaps compel my children to be extra clean. They are always looking for an excuse to wash their hands. I had a friend tell me that the she wanted to eat the soaps with a spoon. They smell that good. But don’t.

Hi Kat, Thanks for commenting on my blog. I'm excited to come back and look around yours. I'm with you on the soap... Warm Vanilla Sugar... I could eat that stuff. : )

I am so with you on the BBB soaps and Warm Vanilla Sugar is one of my absolute favs. I also like Moonlight Path, that everyone comments on, and Sweet Pea. I also use the Williams and Sonoma soaps particularly Basil and Pear. I love the fresh and clean scents..not perfumey.

Jennifer--it does smell so good! I am surprised that perfume makers haven't gone the way of chocolate chip cookies or something :-)

Debbie--The warm vanilla sugar is what got me in the door. But I cannot do the Sweet Pea. The florals and I don't agree. I don't recall Moonlight Path...is it a floral? Another good one is the cucumber.

I am with you on the soaps as well! We have them by every sink in the house, and I stock up when they are 3 for $10. I am weird about scents too, and I can use almost any of the fruit ones...sometimes the flower ones are a little strong. And, I hate the cucumber one! But, the mango-mandarin body wash makes my morning so cheery!

Sissy--I really like the mango-mandarin as well. My husband's fav is the coconut lime. I am not liking thier trend towards the florals - with sweet pea and now orchid...I have to walk quickly past that part! I stock up, too...hence being able to take all those pictures. My kids favorite at the moment (besides Frosting Forever) is strawberry banana.

I have a very sensitive nose also. I hate perfumes and most candles. So, your post have me very excited! I'm ready to run out to Bath And Bodyworks to buy some yummy handsoap RIGHT NOW! I love good smelling soaps.

Beautiful pictures, btw. Love em!

And, oh my gosh, is that a LOST-inspired countdown clock on your blog?!! I'm lusting after it...

Oh, nice pic change! I love those soaps too! My husband says it is "girly soap". hahahaha You made it look so so so beautiful(?) in the pics! Oh and guess what! I bought a small non-crafty scrapbook and started journaling my pics. I'll keep you posted.

Rhea--I cannot do candles at all. I am hyper sensitive to smells...but these don't bother me at all. I like all their scents except the florals. You'll have to let me know which scents you like best.

I liked the pictures too...see what blogging does to me? Who would have guessed I'd be taking pictures of soap. AND running them through photoshop!

HipMom--How I wish I could do the lotions. I have the iced tea and the mint chocolate...but my skin is almost as sensitive as my nose...and it just makes me so itchy. So, there they sit on my shelf. Mocking me.

Rhea--Here is the link so that you too can get a lost countdown:

Joye--I have even converted my husband. He has his own coconut lime soap by his sink...and he even uses their coconut lime shampoo and conditioner.

I am so excited that you got a scrapbook. You will absolutely have to keep me posted.

Susan--Thanks. But I still don't know what I am doing. (it was all taken on automatic...)

How did you sneak a picture of the inside of my cabinet??? I am ALWAYS stocked whenever I go to the 3 for $10 sale...regular soap just won't do anymore!

Did you try the Pomegranate? Very yummy! I love the citrus and coconut flavors most of all...

My favorite is Moonlit Path. Not too flowery, not too musky. Just right.

I love them too...only I like the foaming kind best! =)

My kids love these. If we happen to be at the mall when they have the sale we buy a bunch of them for their bathroom.

We also have the perfume allergy thing happening, even walking down the laundry detergent aisle at the supermarket can give me a headache (we only use perfume and dye free detergents), so I really love that Bath and Body Works products smell great without the perfume.

My boys really liked the juniper one. Maybe it reminds them of their favorite place -- western Washington state...
