Friday Follies

Another week and no blog posts from me. Do I have anything exciting to tell you? Have I been busy doing very cool things? Have I been on any adventures? Ummm. Negative. On all counts. We are here. Just doing things like swim lessons. Tennis team. Playing with friends. Farmtown on facebook. Reading lots of books. Basking in the cushyness of my new bed.

I have been list making. You should see my two page list of blog ideas. All of which require me to take pictures. Upload pictures. Edit pictures. But I get distracted. Or have to take the girls some where. Crops have to be harvested. Or my computer can't handle all the photos I have loaded and it slows to something resembling a sloth.

At least we have our follies.

Desktop or laptop?

Write blog or read blogs?

Favorite thing you've done this summer.

Favorite book you've read this summer.

Favorite movie you've seen this summer.

swim or tennis?

Time you got up today.

This summer - vacation or staycation?

Ding, ding, ding!! You have just won an all expenses paid, 1 week vacation for your entire family. And you don't have to listen to a time share spiel. Where are you going?

How many photos are on your computer?

Weekend Whimsies?

I am sitting in a window. Not a window that looks out upon anything. No view. Just a time frame. A window of 9am to 1pm. A waiting window. I am waiting for my brand new bed to arrive. After testing it in the store last weekend. I cannot wait to lay down on it. I have a feeling that my children will feel the need to make themselves at home in my room. And it's quite possible that someone may need to stage an intervention to get me off of it.

But in the mean time...let's have some whimsies. Instead of some follies.

Plush or firm?

What size bed do you have?

How old is your bed?

comforter or quilt?

Print or solid?

Do you make your bed daily?

How many pillows do you sleep on?

Do you eat in bed? Watch TV? Read?

What kind of sheets are on your bed right now?

How many beds are in your house?

Friday Follies

About a year ago, I started this Friday tradition. Of me asking you questions. You answering. Us getting to know each other better. I was inspired by a post of Debbie's over at This is the Life. But apparently Debbie has dropped off the face of the planet. Anyone heard from Debbie? And then another Debbie asked me to bring the Follies back. As they had fallen by the wayside with hospital adventures at the beginning of the year. Ask and you shall receive:

Facebook or Twitter?

Favorite berry?

Favorite salad dressing?

Pizza or chinese?

aerobics or water aerobics?

gold or silver?

shoes or barefoot?

Book on the top of your to be read pile

How long have you been texting?

Have you started back to school shopping?

Friday Follies: Knock, Knock! Who's there?

We have come to the end of yet another week. Are your weeks flying by like mine are? Although somedays I think that my mornings trickle by...until the kiddos are out the door...or on task for the one who is at home...and then they fly.

So, once again, I have outsourced my Follies. And Rhea of Texas Word Tangle has stepped up to the plate. Again. Such a good friend to answer my cry for help. Assist me in my time of need. Rescue all of us from "routine" follies. Because it would certainly not be a normal Friday with Rhea asking the questions. And it wouldn't be a Rhea post if it didn't have pictures. So...let's get to know each other. And find out what we all think about doors...

1. What kind of front door do you have? (color? glass insert? doorbell or knocker?)

2. What color front door would you like to have?

3. If you had a sunroom in your home, would you want french doors or sliding glass doors leading from the sun room into the backyard?4. Do you like screen doors? Would you use them?

5. If you could have anyone walk through your front door right now, who would you want?

6. What/where is your favorite door ever?7. Are there any secret or hidden doors in your life?

8. Do you have any door art in your house? Have you seen door art? Would you put up door art in your home?

9. Do you keep your front door locked during the day? Your back door?10. When one door shuts, another is supposed to open. Is this true? Have you experienced it? How?

Friday Follies

It's Friday Follies time again. The time where I ask the questions. You answer them. And we get to know each other. Kinda like speed dating. Without you having to buy me dinner. Although. Dinner would be nice.

Have you entered this week's weekend winners? There are almost as many entries as there was for Twilight week. Who knew that games would the thing. Today is your last chance to enter. Winner will be announced tomorrow along with our FINAL week of prizes. Well. Final is a rather relative term. I am sure that I'll have more contests. At some point.

Okay. Enough blathering on.

Stay in or go out on New Year's?

Either way...what did you do?

Were you awake at midnight?

What are you most looking forward to in 2009?

Favorite thing you did in 2008?

Are your Christmas decorations still up? Or already packed away?

Do you make New Year's resolutions?

Shannon asked this great question this week - what do you resolve to NOT do in 2009?

So many people resolve to get organized. What would be the first project you would tackle?

White sales are the big thing in January. (Do you know why?) Tell me about your favorite set of sheets.

Friday Follies: Christmas in July July in Christmas?

It's that time of the week again...time for us to get to know one another. And answer some questions. And because my brain is frazzled, I have outsourced the questions. Outsourced them to Angie's Spot. Because she was coereced volunteered. So many thanks to Angie for taking time away from your Christmas holiday. And your Disney vacation after glow...

I find it so funny that people are always talking about "Christmas in July" sales and activities, but you never hear anyone talking about "July during Christmas" stuff. So, this week, I'll get the requisite Christmas questions out of the way, but the rest will be focused on some of my favorite July things. Merry Christmas everyone!

1. What was your favorite gift received this holiday season?

2. What was your favorite gift that you gave?

3. Snowy vacations or sunny destinations?

4. Do you decorate for the 4th of July?

5. Disney World or Universal Studios?

6. Favorite color: Red, White or Blue?

7. BBQ: Sauce or No Sauce?

8. Beach Bunny or Poolside?

9. Did you finish your school summer reading ahead of time or at the last minute?

10. Where is your dream vacation destination?

Friday Follies: A little Figgy Pudding

It's Friday. And you know what that means? It's the last day of school until the new year. It's the launch of the weekend. And it's the last day to enter to win my huge Disney prize pack. Oh...and it's time for our Friday Follies!

Today's guest inquisitor is Shannon from Welcome to the Nuthouse. I met Shannon IRL way back in October. (Am I the only one that feels like I have known you guys for forever? When really...it hasn't been that long.) When we took this infamous photo. And now Shannon is ready to ask all the questions for today's Follies...

I've decided to go with a theme that is near and dear to my heart... FOOD! So here are a few questions pertaining to traditional holiday fare:

Do you make a gingerbread house? From scratch or do you use a pre-made kit?

How do you like your hot chocolate: with or without mini marshmallows?

What kind of cookies do you leave out for Santa? Do you leave anything for the reindeer?

Do you know what wassail is?

Will you be dreaming of sugarplums on Christmas Eve?

Do you like fruitcake? Have you ever given or received a fruitcake as a gift?

Have you ever had mincemeat pie? What IS mincemeat???

Do you drink your eggnog spiked?

Turkey or ham? Stuffing or dressing?

What is your favorite holiday food? What is your least favorite?

Friday Follies: Su-pah Hero!

Happy Friday everyone! It's time again for the Friday Follies. And yet another guest inquisitor. Who was so on top of things that she emailed her list to me weeks ago. And blogger promptly ate it. So today. I had to ask her if she still had the questions. Because between me purging the email. And blogger quirks. (Because surely. They were not my quirks.) I had no questions.

Luckily. Our guest questioner is on top of her pile of children. Perhaps because she is standing on top of all her Outlander books that she won last weekend. Or maybe she's on task because she is functioning on a sugar high from eating all 9 of the warm delights in her big box of goodies. But whatever the reason - Jen - thanks so much for answering my call for help. I knew that shining that big glass of lemonade in the night sky would be just the ticket!

1. Would you want to be a superhero?

2. Could you handle all the responsibility of being a superhero?

3. Would you have a cape?

4. Would there be a letter on your chest?

5. What 2 colors would your 'uniform' be?

6. Would you wear it all the time? Under or over your clothes?

7. Do you have a Superhero?

8. Do you kids seem to have 'super powers'? What?

9. Have you ever been anyone's hero?

10. Do you feel like the job of being a mom means sometimes being a superhero?

(The queue is open for January if you'd like to be a guest inquisitor. Just email me or let me know in the comments. Today is the last day to enter the weekend winners. Tomorrow launches a HUGE prize pack!)

Friday Follies: Here we go a-caroling

First, I want to thank you all so much for your comments on my post yesterday about my dad. I was okay writing it. But the comments. They made me break out the buckets. And I might have short circuited my computer.

And don't forget that today is the last day to enter the week 5 of the Weekend Winners. And this week it's all about sex and chocolate! Winner will be announced tomorrow - and week 6 will launch.

This week we are back to the guest questioner...and it's Carrie from Oikology. I don't know how Carrie found me (hey, Carrie...how did you find me?)...but she commented for the first time on this post. Is it scary to you that I recall this? It's kinda scary to me. And her comment made me laugh out loud. (Okay, I MUST have the I *heart* my big ta-tas t-shirt! Off to find it and buy it! I don't care that I will never wear it in public, I just wanna say I own it!) And I had to go and read her. And stalk her. And wish that I looked that cool in blue glasses. And you must go read this post. That includes this picture/impersonation of Cher:Carrie...did you ever buy that ta-tas shirt?

Was that enough ado to say "without further ado?"...

Hello there Sunshine and Lemonade readers! I'm your guest inquisitor for today! Because Kat blackmailed me, that's why!! Watch out what you say because she's not afraid to use it against you! Before you know it, you'll be doing her laundry and driving her kids places just for saying you didn't like Twilight!

Okay, I might be exaggerating just a teeny bit. But not that much... (**Ummm...she got bribed because she said she didn't like "would you rather questions." So I kindly requested that she do the questions herself. If you want to do questions - the queue is open for January!)

Since one of my very most favorite-est thing about the Holiday season is the music, I figured I'd ask you some questions based around Christmas Music!!! I listen to Christmas music 24/7 from the day after Thanksgiving all the way until I go to bed on Christmas night. I may have a problem, but as far as I know, there's no 12-step program for it yet. So until that day comes, you'll most likely see me driving around in my little Silver Bug head-boppin' with a big smile, screaming my heart out to my favorite tunes!

So here are your questions! It's "time for joy and time for cheer!"

What's your favorite Christmas Song?

Have you ever eaten figgy pudding? What other kinds of pudding other than Jell-O have you eaten?

Fill in the blank: All you want for Christmas is….

When do you start listening to Christmas Music?

What's your favorite Reindeer game and who's your favorite Reindeer?

Fill in the blank with whatever you want: You're dreaming of a ______ Christmas.

If you could change the lyrics to 12 days of Christmas, what would replace "a partridge in a pear tree?"

Do you go "Over the River and Through the Woods" for Christmas or stay at home?

Have you ever gone "a'Wassailing?"

Who is your all-time favorite singer of Christmas Music?

Did you ever catch "Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" or have your kids caught you being Santa??

What's your favorite thing to "Deck the Halls" with?

Have you ever seen "The Nutcracker" Ballet? Where??

What is your least favorite Christmas Song?

Well, that's pretty much all the Christmas music questions I can think of! "Although it's been said, many times, many ways..." the Ball & Chain, the Midget, the Wieners, and I wish you a most joyous (and music-filled) Holiday Season! Stop over and see me sometime!

Friday Follies

I hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Spending time with people you love. And remembering all the blessings that we do have.

And now. It's time to settle into our tryptophan addled minds. And get back to the business of the Friday Follies:

Did you stay home for Thanksgiving or travel?

Were you a host or a guest?

Favorite food you had yesterday?

Was there an item served that you didn't even put on your plate?

Did you make any recipe that you found on a blog?

Shop on Black Friday or not?

When do you put up your Christmas decorations?

Most outlandish request from your kids for Christmas this year?

What is one item from your wish list?

What is one thing you are getting for your spouse this year? (maybe you'll give someone an idea!)

Don't forget that today is the last day to enter the contest. Be sure to come back tomorrow for our next round of weekend winners!

Friday Follies: Twilight edition

It's here. The day that so many have been waiting for! So, who went to see it at midnight?? Katie and I are having a field trip to see it at 10 am. I can count that as school work right? A literature class? Film class? Psychology?

Who will be this week's Weekend Winner?? Today is the last day to enter my Twilight give-away. I know that ya'll have marked off the place in your bedroom to put the poster. Found the perfect spot for your new calendar. And arranged for some "me" time to shop. Read. And eat Godiva chocolate. The winner will be announced tomorrow - along with a whole new set of prizes as we move to week four of the extravaganza.

And I so appreciate the continued indulgences in being guest inquisitors! The queue is still open if you are interested! We've had questions from Debbie at Finding Normal. From Rhea at Texas Word Tangle. From Jennifer P at The Peterson's Go Public. And who should ask the Friday Follies - on this particular Friday? It is the ultimate fan girl herself - Lula!

I first met Lula through Debbie - at This is the Life. Where I seem to meet so many of the friends who live inside my computer. Lula came out of lurking on her site. And can ya'll imagine? Lula. Lurking? And Lula and I. Well, I think it was kismet. We had an instant connection. Over LOST. All things Georgia. Having two little girls. Our love of reading. And most especially peanut m&ms. So...let's see what Lula has for us today:

It’s the day we Twilight-lovers have waited for…Edward and Bella, on the big screen! Be still my beating heart. Let’s roll with some Twilight Friday Follies love…and for those of you who haven’t yet read these books (and why not, may I ask?), I will throw in a few non-Twilighty questions. Because I love y’all that much.

Let’s just get this one out of the way:

Team Edward or Team Jacob?

Favorite Cullen?

Would you rather control emotions, see the future, or read minds?

If you had to choose, would you rather go on a date with Tyler, Eric, or Mike?

Shiny silver Volvo or an antique truck?

Who were you more like in high school? Bella, Angela, or Jessica?

Which appeals more to you? Forks or Arizona?

With whom would you rather hunt? Edward, Emmett, or Alice? OR...James, Laurent, or Victoria?

And since Edward and Bella are the love story for our generation, I'm gonna ask a few love questions...in honor of them:

Favorite love story, fiction:

Favorite love story, non-fiction:

If you could be in love during any period of time, which era would you choose?

Favorite big screen romance:

Favorite TV romance:

Favorite song about love:

Theme song: "Closer," by Kings of Leon. It's the one song I would've put on the soundtrack, were I given the opportunity. It's a sexy song...but also full of angst...longing...frustration...and desperate love. In my head I always hear it playing in the scene where Edward saves Bella from the dudes in Port Angeles...

Friday Follies: Would you Rather?

It's that time of the week again. It's the last day to enter my second week of weekly winners. This week's prizes are all about the ta-tas. Be sure to get your name in. At least once. And then come back tomorrow to see the winner. Yes, I'll really tell you the winner tomorrow. AND I'll launch week three. With a huge fan girl prize pack. And maybe some mini packs too.

And it's that time of the week to do the Friday Follies. And once again, we have a guest inquisitor. This time it's Jennifer P. from The Peterson's Go Public! I "discovered" Jennifer from reading Debbie's and Elena's blog. I would see her comments here and there. And finally went to check her out. And I love how she reciprocated. She told me that after I commented five times on her blog, she would become a regular reader of mine. And that I would have myself a genuine stalker. Wouldn't you love those sweet nothings whispered in your ear? She found my love language. Personal stalker. So be sure to answer Jennifer's questions. And then go stalk her blog.

Hello Friday Follies Ladies! I am über excited to be the guest questioner today! I always view these posts as my personal mini-therapy sessions. It is therapeutic to examine yourself a bit—even just to ask “plain or peanut”—right ?! Anyway—here I am with this great opportunity to come up with questions for you…..and I couldn’t come up with anything. UNTIL I turned to my rusty-trusty “Would You Rather” game. I give full credit to the Zobmondo company for helping to guide my questions this week. Keep your arms and legs inside the cart until the ride comes to a complete stop, and thanks for playing!:

**WOULD YOU RATHER**:

Have smart kids OR strikingly beautiful kids (but not both)?

Be a brilliant singer in a bad band OR a mediocre singer in a wildly popular band?

Pick a carpet clean with tweezers OR trim the lawn with nail clippers?

Live in a country run by supermodels OR live in a country run by professional football players?

Be known as a tyrant OR a wimp?

Work for your sibling OR your best friend?

Share your home with six 90-year-old men and six 90-year-old women OR 2 ostriches?

Have your feet replaced by wheels (without brakes) OR your hands replaced by hooks?

**All of Jennifer's font changes in size, boldness, and italics do not translate from word. This was my attempt to duplicate. No one can fontisize like Jennifer.**

Friday Follies: Tangled Texas

Do you know what today is? Today is the last day to enter the contest. Yes THE contest. For your very own soundtrack to Wicked. And a personalized, autographed copy of Wicked by Gregory Maguire. Yes. Personalized. And then tomorrow is round two of the Weekend Winners. With a whole new set of prizes. And chances to win. (Yep. Chances. This time there will be more than one winner!)

Now that the bidness is out of the way. It's time again for the Friday Follies...and our next guest inquisitor. Rhea from Texas Word Tangle came to my rescue with her offer to interrogate you. Rhea and I go way back. All the way to March. She was my first commenter. She made me stop in my tracks and say "how the heck did you find me??" Though I might not have used such lady like language. Be sure to go say hello to my blog buddy after you answer her Texas themed questions:

Have you ever been to Texas?

If you could buy only cowboy boots or only a cowboy hat, which would you choose?

Have you ever ridden a horse before?

Have you ever been to a rodeo?

If you had to participate in a rodeo, what event would you want to be in?(barrel riding, bull riding, calf scramble, roping, rodeo clown, etc.)

Who's the most famous Texan that comes to mind first?

If you had to move to Texas, which city would you choose?

Who's your favorite Texas blogger in a pink cowboy hat?

Which animal poop is more artistic, cow patties or wild raisins (deer poop)?

Have you ever gone eye-to-eye with a rattlesnake with a mimosa, a cowgirl hat and boots at a bachelorette party in the country? No, wait, I mean, have you ever touched a snake?

What kind of Halloween candy are you giving out tonight? (Is it the same candy you first bought - or did you have to go back to the store and get more when it all "magically" disappeared from your house?)

What was your favorite Halloween candy when you were a kid? What candy did you always try to give away?

Do you decorate your house for Halloween?

What kind of carving is on your pumpkin?

Have you ever TP'd or egged someone's house?

Friday Follies

Last week, my lament was heard. And my cries were answered. So, today Debbie from Finding Normal is our guest questioner. Inquisitor? Grand Poo-bah? I quickly took Debbie up on her offer of questions. So quickly that I believe she questioned herself. And wondered what she had gotten into. But she has some great questions for you - plus a few extras. When you are done with the interview, be sure to check out her blog. And maybe even make some Paula Deen gooey butter pumpkin cake.

Book or movie?

Favorite make-up product?

Plain or peanut?

Favorite drink?

Which sock do you put on first?

Polished or natural nails? Toenails?

Favorite snack?

Favorite time of day?

How many states have you lived in?

Favorite holiday?

Black and white or color?

Email or phone call?

Favorite subject in school?

Famous person you'd most like to meet?

Who wants to be the next guest inquisitor??
