The Mommy Blabbers Club

I love surprises. Well...I love being in on the surprise. Being the surpriser. Rather than the surprisee. And it was so much fun to have a hand in bringing 6 mommy bloggers together. Plus a mini blogger. And some bloggy children. It took a lot of work. Threats of kidnapping. Duct tape. And a serious sales job. But it all eventually came together. And a lot of people were surprised to see who were the guests at the table!

We had lunch at Maggianos - and because our party was so big, they wouldn't let us order off the menu. We had to order family style - all sharing 2 appetizers, 2 salads, 2 pastas, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. One of the appetizers we ordered was calamari. Which Angie insisted was disgusting. But somehow we convinced her to try it. It's now her new favorite. I had to arm wrestle her for the leftovers.

So...we ate. Laughed. Got a few phone calls from people wanting to know what we were all really like. Took lots of pictures.

Watched Lizzy's youngest slurp spaghetti straight from the serving dish while we laughed till we cried. And then Lizzy showed us how the eye crossing thing was passed down to the next generation. New friendships were forged. And Lula showed off how she matches her bra with her shoes. And her shoes and bra with her children.Kori regaled us with her spoon on the nose abilities. And then we pounded the table with chants of "do it! do it! do it!" till Kori put a chocolate spoon on her nose.I think that was about when they kindly asked us to pay our bill and be on our way.

So, naturally, we blocked the walkway into the restaurant for the next half hour as we figured out what to do next...and took some more pictures.

We had to bid adieu to Lula and the girls...but the rest of the gang headed back to the wilds of Lilburn for a continuation of our summit. But before we could go, my daughter and Kori had to have a knock down about who got to ride shot-gun. Kori won.

And Katie christened us not bloggers, but blabbers. And oh did we run with that. And the first meeting of the Mommy Blabbers club was about to commence.I think that Lizzy said it best - that this is the sorority I never had. Complete with initiation rituals. Hazing. And a secret handshake.

So...what about you? Were you ever a part of a sorority? Or something like that? Do you get together with friends on a regular basis? Who wants to come to Atlanta for the next Mommy Blabber meeting? Have you entered the contest yet?

How you come up with the perfect songs for your posts...

And you, with your powers of persuasion. And secret-keeping.

You don't cease to amaze me.

THANK YOU for getting all of us together. Seriously, the Mommy Blabbers are gonna have to get together monthly. Somehow, someway...

Saw Lula's take on the whole shindig. Looks like you guys had LOADS of fun! I'm jealous!

Ok - first of all, Billy Joel is my all time favorite artist - and this is my favorite song.

What a totally fun get together! You all look like you had an amazing time... especially the kids.

I'm totally looking you up if I'm ever in Atlanta... seriously!

okay- I might just have to move back to the east coast to join your club...

c'mon west coasters...let's do it up with avocado, tofu and wheatgrass cocktails!

(PS - I love this song and am singing every word along with it...back in the day, it was my karaoke specialty)

First of all: Maggianos!! *dies* *sense memory of her last meal there four years ago and dies again* YUM!!

Ok, i'm back... Nothing beats a get together of online friends. The re-introductions, the fact that you know everything about these people.. *sigh* I've obviously been involved in one or two of these things. :p

Glad you guys had fun! (and yummy italian food.) :p

I love all the pictures! Especially that fabulous Lula cleavage and purple bra. :)

Stick a fork in me!--How fun must that have been?!?! SO fun to see actual people outside of their avatars!

I am currently in a secret language club. I'll do anything to impress a cute, kind of dorky guy I guess! I was also president of the German Club---also--many cute, dorky boys in there :).

Oh, what fun! You blabbers sure know how to party!

Nope, I was never a sorority chick or anything. I do get together with my friends regularly, though. We laugh. A lot!

Oh so fun! I wanna be in Atlanta not yucky Germany.
It looks like such a fun time.

I joined a sorority (social DPE) in college. And nope - don't keep in touch with any of them!

Sooo much fun. Jealous. Heather and I want to try for the next one. Keep us posted. She was talking about a get together in Gatlinburg in the spring. Would be fun.

I am in on the contest.

My only friend is my sister :( I need some friends. (I do have my lunch ladies).

Looks like y'all had a blast!

I was in a sorority at The University of Alabama. I actually saw three of my BFFs from our pledge class when I was in Atlanta recently, and it was so much fun. Lots of squealing and laughing until our cheeks ached. We hadn't all been together in 12 years!

I do get together with my Sweet Potato Queen friends every St Paddy's Day, for the parade (we call it The Million Queen March). It's more fun than I've ever had with my clothes on!

Again I am boogie-ing to your post. Dancing and reading is not easy. But is even harder to do while also yelling "I wanna do that! I wanna join in!"

Thanks for sharing with all of us and letting know that Bloggers Rock where ever they are.

OMG, I so needed a laugh this morning! The song "suggestions" are totally cracking me up. And yes, Calamari is my new favorite. NOT.

I totally didn't even realize that Lula had color coordinated ALL of her accessories!

Seriously though, I had such a wonderful time and we do need to get together regularly. It would be crime against humanity not to experience our group out in public more often. Just ask the waiter that Lula bumped.

Looks like you ladies had SO MUCH FUN!

You guys look and like you had so much fun! I wish there were some bloggy mom's around here but I think I am alone in my neck of the woods. I will just live vicariously through your blog meetings!

I am so glad that you guys had an awesome time, jealous but very happy for you all, did I mention, jealous?

We did have an awesome time. You did a great job on this post.

And did you notice that my hero is holding my hand and that I am so overtaken that I had to look away. lol

I'm so jealous. I knew this was happening Saturday and I wanted to be there so badly!!!

I need to be a member of the Mommy Blabbers Club. It's where I belong.

Looks at you guys full of smiles and laughs. I love Lula's matching bra, what a beautiful color!!

I heard another story from Saturday that involved Lula and the waiter...

Mama Dawg said...

Dude, did you see Lula's BOOBS in that pic?

Magnificent!

I so wanna be at the next one. I don't know how far Atlanta is from you, though. *pout, pout*

Elena said...

LOVE it!! You guys are great. I really have got to get bloggers close by me so I can have a blabbers meeting. So fun. And if I had a million dollars I woud so be on the next plane to Atlanta to meet you all. Looks like a great time.

Brandy said...

I love all the different posts! But where is a picture of Lula's shoes? I'm sure they were awesome and I want to see.

And I think the next meeting should be a road trip. So I can come. And NOT try weird foods. ~bleck~

And I think I recognize your shirt.

Melissa said...

You all are a hoot. I can't wait to join you. I know I don't blog....blab anymore, but I definitely need to meet you all in person.

Rhonda said...

Oh, I so need to find some bloggers who live closer! Or else move to the states where most of my blog friends are....

It looks like you had an awesome time!!!

jennifersusan said...

The song is perfect, and one of my favorites too! I was never in a sorority, but if I could choose a club to be in, it'd definitely be the Mommy Blabbers Club.

Jane In The Jungle said...

Oh I just can't wait for the next meeting!!

Yes, I was in a sorority in high school(come on, it was Athens) and in college, although it was not a national sorority and I was a bit of a rebel in it, hung out with the "others".

I love being with friends where you really feel you "fit in". Struggling with that at this time and in fact will be blogging on that later!

Aleta said...

I've never met anyone from the blogging world. I think it's so neat that ya'll did this and what great pictures and sounds like so much fun. If ever I get to Atlanta (a friend of our family lives there), I'll drop a line.

I was part of a sorority in college. Not the typical snobbing sorority though. I picked that particular one, because they were into scholastics and cared about grade point average. I know, sounds boring, but they didn't haze and they didn't push alcohol and such. They had a good time and we helped each other.

I keep in close contact with friends. I've known them since... hmm... 3rd grade, 5th grade, 7th grade.. Good people!

Skeller said...

Clearly, you all are having a very loud, fun time together :-D. And how cool is it that daughters of bloggers came, too?!? I love all the photos.

Gina said...

I may have mentioned this before- I'm insanely jealous.

So so jealous. I would love to come to Atlanta. Sigh.
I was never in a sorority, nor did I want to be, but right about now I'd kill for more adult conversation and some really good pasta.
Quadruple love me some Billy Joel. You just made me smile to realize I was off mute, very rare! :)

Michelle said...

How fun that you ladies all had the chance to meet. Oh and to eat at Maggianos. We eat there when we visit Chicago. I love their food.

I wasn't in a sorority in college and I don't get together with girl friends as often as I would like. But you have inspired me to call my peeps and have a get together sooner rather than later!

The Joye of Teaching said...

Looks like you have a regular "following" IRL! Fun times.

Linda said...

One of my most favorite songs ... ever!

Nope, no past sorority life for me. I thought it was kinda dumb at the time, but now wish I had that sisterhood.

Y'all are so much fun. And heck yeah, I wanna come to the next Mommy Blabber meeting. Sadly, I'm on the opposite coast. How about a plane ticket giveaway?;-) Oh well, at least the rest of us can attend vicariously through the photos and your blog.

oh.. you all are so beautiful.. what fun!!!!

How fun!! When I move to TN next summer, and will be living with 20 mintues of Shannon, I may come crash a Mommy Blabbers meeting. I was never in a sorority or any cool clubs :(

You all look fabulous!!

Aubrey said...

Delicious! All of it! All of you are so lucky. How much you think a plane ticket costs from CO to you?!

KimmyJ said...

I swear, I'm checking for cheap flights!! I'm crazy jealous and I want to be a blabber - can we have branch meetings in different states? :)
Me and my high school girlfriends get together once a year no matter what with no kids or significant others and we look forward to it all year long!

Unknown said...

Best. Day. Ever.

Can't even begin to tell you how much fun I had, how sore my sides still are from laughing, and how I will NEVER be able to eat spaghetti with Katie again... ever.

Debbie said...

I loved every word and every picture of this...Kat you are the glue! Loved Lula's take on it as well...sounds like so much fun!

I am so jealous of the Mommy Blabbers Club. I want to come to the next meeting. Can we move it just a tad bit north? I have dinner once a month with a bunch of my girlfriends. It's the best evening of the month for me. Food, friends and plenty of wine.

I can't stay to comment because I have to run over to Mama Dawg's and thank her for complimenting my boobs.

Kidding.

You are SO ridiculous for being all, "my Mommy Blabber post is not good." I'm offended. Because we are ALL good. No, we are great. And we are doing this again. Very soon. The end.

p.s. Thanks for organizing all of this! You rock!

How much fun!! You guys look like you had a blast!

I graduated from college 8 years ago...and we have a core group of friends from college (at leat 15--20 of us) that get together at Christmas time. We have an annual Christmas weekend...we play games, have a gingerbread house contest, gift exchange, a HUGE turkey dinner, watch movies and donate food to the food bank! It is a blast.
